More recently, they moved the Ga State game around 2011 or 2012 to Thursday night. But that wasn't because of weather or anything.

2010. Chris Fowler and Herbstriet called the game and posters in the ATPB thread were convinced ESPN put the big guns on the game and moved it to Thursday because some huge Cam Newton scandal news was going to drop that day. Fun times.

Nick Saban likes this (play Friday). Kirby would have a melt down. Plus, the TV audience would be huge.

Hurricane update: Alabama-Ole Miss 'gonna try' to play Saturday (BOL)

quote:

According to ABC 33/40’s James Spann, rain associated with Hurricane Delta is likely, “mainly during the first half,” as is a west wind of 15-25 mph through the game (5 p.m. on ESPN).

So it’s probably going to be play or Saturday or cancel.

Right now looking at a 90% chance of rain but only 10 mph winds.

They could move it to a late 8pm kickoff maybe.

I don’t see any reason to cancel. It’s going to be nothing more than a long rainstorm by the time it gets to Oxford. There certainly played college football games in worse.

Just flip the home and away this year. Move it to TTown and play there next year. No tailgating is allowed and limit number of fans in the stadium. Not much money going to be lost by local businesses.

Also who knows how bad road conditions, flooding, and power outages will be in the area and elsewhere in the state.

Well just going by the forecast the chances of any of that are very low.

If the bottom part of the state gets hard might be better to focus resources there. I assume state police like here work the local games to help with traffic and other logistics.

Also the weather forecast for TTown seems better for game time.

Agreed, but again, not at all expected to be the case.

I wish they would move the game would be moved to Tuscaloosa since it is less likely to be directly in the path of the storm, but right now the forecast isn't severe for Oxford

I would hate to play Sunday!
That gives less time to prep for GA, but it means I won't be inclined to watch the Falcons either.

Alabama at Ole Miss Game Time Adjusted (to 6:30 pm CT) Due to Hurricane (SEC)
quote:

The kickoff time for the Alabama at Ole Miss football game to be played Saturday in Oxford has been changed to 6:30 pm Central Time due to Hurricane Delta. The game was originally scheduled to start at 5 pm CT. The change in start time was made to provide a forecast for better game conditions. The game will be televised by ESPN as originally planned.
