It really depends on the coach. If they hate recruiting then obviously the NBA would be a better fit, but if the aspects of their job they like the most are player development and teaching then I can definitely see why a coach may prefer working with college players rather than pros.

Depending on the talent level they really dont have to coach.

Hopefully not Ingram

Hard to believe a guy enjoys coaching NBA over college. Season is a grind, from October to possibly June.
You think coaches prefer spending a longer off-season recruiting 15 year olds or hand shaking fat old boosters?
Hard pass.

Spin zone, our fat boosters don't care enough to make you shake their hands

This is just my opinion, but if we don't announce a coach before Friday, then I'd say Matta won't be our guy. If we announce this week, then I believe it will be Matta

“The next time I talk publicly after today will be to announce the new coach. If anything gets out that somebody is a leading candidate or according to sources that they’ve interviewed or they’re going to interview, I kind of assume that that person doesn’t want the job.”

Dazon is Patient Zero for CAJ's lack of player development. He has the tools to be a really good player, but he was still making the same mistakes as a redshirt junior that he made when he arrived as a freshman. He never got any better.

IMO, a lot of being an NBA coach is handling the PR side of things and juggling big headed personalities.
There's no "player development" of NBA caliber athletes. Maybe some, but that's not the focus.
A lot of mental prep for the players.
College is much different

That's the way to hire a coach!

NBA players run the league. Coaches make a line up card out & get the hell out of their rich arse way.

I agree. If we’ve offered, no reason he can’t give us an answer in 72 hours. One caveat though: Byrne may not be through making contact with all candidates. Something to consider.

Has anyone been able to confirm if Matta was in town other than the RollBamaRoll tweet?
