He has stayed out of trouble at Houston, but if NCAA compliance is one of Byrne's hiring criteria Sampson is probably down the list. And that's assuming he'd even leave. He has a good thing going and Houston can pay him.

I get what you're saying, but every coach was once an assistant. If you think you've found the next young Coach K sitting on the end of a bench somewhere, you sign him up.
That said, it's going to take some selling to get me excited about hiring an assistant.
