I believe it was Surge who used to refer to AHM21 as A.ss Hat Moron at the time when AHM kept on harping about Boz not always being 100% correct if he provided some inside intel.

AHM apparently still hasn't gotten over Boz saying way back when that Tua was coming back and then he didn't. Some people just thrive on negativity, I guess.

In terms of assistant coaches, we apparently have 9:

Offensive staff:
-Ryan Grubb, OC/QB coach
-Scott Huff, OL coach
-JaMarcus Shephard, WR coach
-Nick Sheridan, TE coach
-Robert Gillespie, RB coach

Defensive Staff:
-Kane Wommack, DC
-Freddie Roach, DL coach
-Maurice Linguist, co-DC/cornerbacks coach
-Colin Hitschler, co-DC/safeties coach

William Inge, LB coach, would make 10.

Who from these coaches would coach special teams?

Wow did not know Raymond was available.

Exactly, me neither. Now there's a great way to move on from T-Robinson (if indeed he is gone) in terms of coaching and recruiting. Just look at his recruiting list: LINK
I hope we can reduce the Kirby Smart-related melts on this board. It's getting almost as bad as it was last off-season and that made me quit the board for a year. We get the point about Smart, now let's focus on Bama. Roll Tide!

I wonder why Florida canned him?

Fair question. It appears it was part of a shake-up of the staff on the defense by Napier after Florida gave up points in bunches for consecutive games:

How about Corey Raymond as DB coach (not necessarily DC)? It would make the LSU board melt. I believe he's at Florida now, he might want off that sinking ship.

Funny you should mention that: I was just thinking about Corey Raymond as well. He's a fantastic DB coach and a great recruiter. Also, he's available:

I say: let's get this guy aboard asap.

Listen to the commentator after the Tim Williams sack vs 10RC: "3rd and 13, 4th and a mile."
Awesome

I would be shocked if Saban doesn't have the DC lined up

Exactly. We should know by now that Saban is not an amateur. And if last season was torture for us, it must have been hell for him. I'm pretty sure he's had a plan in place for some time now.

In my opinion a key aspect in any upcoming coaching hire on the defense by Saban is to bring Pruitt back on staff in whatever capacity (on-field or off).

The reason being that Pruitt can then be eased into the DC role in the future once our next DC (whether this is Schumann or Leonhard) moves to a HC job in the future. Having Pruitt on staff to step into the DC role in the future creates a fantastic safety net (much like having Muschamp on staff did for UGA when Lanning left). Moreover, it will stabilize the DC position for years to come, as it seems unlikely that Pruitt will be able to land a head coaching job in the future.
Not much news to read here about the PG/Ole Miss rumors: LINK
Just a 'confirmation' that there's something going on with Golding. So, there indeed is smoke and I hope there will eventually be fire (in some shape or form, like Boz is suggesting).
I just found out that Doug Nussmeier is the QB coach for the Dallas Cowboys. I had completely missed that one.
I know a Richard Young ( LINK), just not the running back. A heck of a trial lawyer though, and nice guy too.

There should not be any disagreements about BoB and PG. Both need to be replaced, period. Whether they are fired or not is irrelevant (BoB has an expiring contract so there's no need to fire him). Saban has set a standard at Alabama and neither of our current coordinators is meeting that standard.

To make it very simple we can remind ourselves of the Tennessee game:
- Alabama gave up 567 (!) yards;
- Alabama gave up seven (7!) touchdowns;
- Alabama committed seventeen (17!) penalties;
- Alabama gave up the most points since 1907.

These are unacceptable numbers for a Saban coached team. And it's not as if our OC and DC are new on the job, need to learn, etc. They're veteran coaches. Golding has been on staff since 2018 and has been DC (officially) since February 2019. Of course, his defences have not always been as bad as against 10RC, but he's not going to all of a sudden improve. So, let's move on. BoB can go to the Pats or whatever he wants and PG needs to be relocated.

There is supposedly something out there (see Shocco's post) , but no one dares to be specific apparently. This bit on Sports Illustrated illustrates (sorry) just that: LINK

Brian Kelly is quoted, but without describing specifically what led to the question:
quote:

Kelly was asked whether all of his coaches were in “good standing” heading into the offseason. The question was raised after social media rumors began swirling online involving members of the LSU program.

Not a single word about what these "rumors" pertain to.
Completely agree. Hopefully Saban is at a point where he knows he has to make a decision. Like when Tosh wasn't working out as DC. Lupoi was a great position coach and an ace recruiter, but Saban had to replace him and he did. I just hope he makes a change for the better this time: Pruitt.
Saint, I see no picture.

From what I understand, McClain is still committed to Miami, but hasn't signed. Is he looking elsewhere or just trying to pressure Miami into giving him more NIL money?

I think this season was the most painful to watch in the Nick Saban era. This is because we were painfully bad on both sides of the ball (O and D). Apart from maybe Bama's early growing pains under Saban, that has never been the case.

I'm trying my best to forget this (still ungoing) season, but didn't we set negative yardage and penalties records this year, going all the way back to 2007?

If it was painful for us to watch, then it most have been a bloody horror for Saban. Listening to Gimme Shelter after a win must never have given him and Miss Terry less joy than this season...

So, that is why I trust that Saban replaces both his coordinators. The PG experiment has run its course: he's not going to improve our D (he has regressed big time this year) and he is sure as heckfire not going to teach our ILB's anything that is for certain.

Twas the Night Before Christmas
when coach Nick Saban, aka The GOAT
reeled in 5 (!) 5-stars in 10 days for ESD:
Keeley, Proctor, Russaw, James and Ricks
thereby showing us that
although he may miss on a coordinator hire or two
even at 71, nobody will out-recruit him
:rolltide:
So true, but Saban didn't want to risk losing him to another program. Bad choice.

Would love to have Tosh back as a position coach and recruiter, though.
