I, for one, am in favor of this.
What a stellar conference we'd have.
Would force a minimum 10 game conference slate.

If we take In Texas and Oklahoma, we’re agreeing to take in Oklahoma State as well. That’s 17 teams which is unwieldy for scheduling.

I believe this story was leaked as a kind of advertisement that there are a limited number of seats available in the SEC and the window to join is open…for now. Sankey will take either 1 additional team to get to 18 or 3 to get to 20. Who are the other 1-3? The obvious answer is from the ACC.

The B1G is not going to sit on their hands while the SEC expands with two national brands like Texas and Oklahoma. Syracuse and Virginia would both fit their school profile. I could also see them picking up Iowa State and Kansas to the west.

Once the dominoes start to fall in the ACC, Clemson, UNC, NC State, and possibly UVa and Va Tech could be under consideration for an SEC slot. Who knows how it all plays out?

Pretending this happens, would you move Alabama and Auburn to the east, and Miz to the west?

SEC East: Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Vanderbilt

SEC West: Mississippi St, Ole Miss, LSU, Arkansas, Missouri, Texas A&M, Texas, Oklahoma

Would make sense geographically, but damn the west would take a beating year in and out. Leaving Alabama and Auburn in the east with would be just as tough of a schedule.

On one hand, I did think that Sarkey's comment about it was kinda damning.

We would literally be giving up our half of the conference to Texas.

Which they would subdue as they slowly try to take over the conference. It would be akin to making Big12 division in SEC.

No thanks.

No one with any sense does. Texas will absolutely poison the conference. It's just what they do.

Agreed. Clemson needs some competition. The SEC is hard enough as it is.

Texas and Oklahoma are gone. Whether it’s the SEC or ACC.

I think the Big 10 would be more likely to take them than the ACC

Who is paying the $50 million buyout every ACC team agreed to last time conferences were looking to grab an ACC team?

This will eventually happen. The playoff has been expanded and now super conferences are on the way. It'll be an arms race among the SEC, PAC, B10, and ACC to scoop up who they want.

this is gonna get weird. but this is kind of what ive been wanting for a good while now. at least half of the teams designated D1, should not be D1. it's time to split off and the real D1 teams go it alone. let all the others create their own league and do their playoff by themselves. i think it will be better football all around.

Maybe they should join the PAC instead.

Agreed. If the smaller schools can't get an offer into a super conference, they need to join up and create their own division.

I think Texas is a smoke screen. OU and OSU are probably be the two team.

Should they all leave... Who will BIG 12 go after?
ND? They need a home. OSU? Penn State? Iowa? Michgian?

What about SEC Teams? Vandy? Missouri?

Vandy has to consider getting out of SEC and move to BIG 10.. they would do well.

This isn’t only about athletics, but also academics as well. The presidents have a say and if they are smart they want top tier academic institutions, not just good football teams.

Why do you think the SEC keeps Vandy? It’s an AAU university, which adds academic prestige to the conference.

Adding UT makes sense, but they need to go after a Kansas, UNC, VA, etc. as well, while not football powerhouses, they are good in basketball and are also AAU accredited.

If this were to happen I believe the B12 will no longer exist. The B10 will go after any research institution that can meet the endowment criteria and the PAC will go after what is left to expand the coverage for TV.

Lets say the SEC takes 2, the B10 takes 2, the ACC takes 2 and the PAC 12 takes 4. The B12 only has 10 members and with my example all have a home and we now have 4 Super conferences of 16 teams each. The wrench is ND who will be forced to join or get left out.

West Virginia in the BIG12 makes no sense anyway

What happens with the Longhorn Network? No way the SEC allows one team to have their own network. My guess is they would be told you either share all of the revenue or get rid of it completely if you want in. Thoughts?

I always thought WVU would have been a good fit in the SEC. Strong fanbase in Ohio, Maryland, N Virginia and West PA(Pittsburgh). So greater increase in TV market share in an area not SEC dominant. Probably create a good rivalry in football for UK with proximity.

Fans are crazy so they would fit right in with some of our fan bases.
