BOL's version of CodeName1 is saying Noah Rogers has a ruptured patella tendon. If true he's probably out for 9 months or so.

The freshman rb is going to solve the running game problems. That guy is meant to be a legend.

Our RBs are only going to be as good as our run blocking allows. Crowell with the injury and depth ahead of him IMO probably won’t be a major piece of what we do on the ground until late this year or next.

I have no idea how we were as bad at opening lanes last year as we were given our talent, but we would have to see a major improvement just to be average this year.

What we need is to get to a place where we’re average enough running the ball that we don’t see the OU style defenses again that can sit back on the short to intermediate passes while blitzing as needed off the edge to give looks that a young QB isn’t going to be ready for.

I’d argue we only really saw the real DeBoer offense last year for portions of 2-3 games and even then we still lacked the deep passing game which is a critical element until injuries took most of it off the table again and had us scratching and clawing to grind out drives like it was the Shula era.

Crazy, because it didn't look like there were enough folks at the game to cause a shut down at Sonic, much less the strip.

Our problem last year was not just the O line. A great running back can make a big difference.

That sounds like we should be medical redshirting him for 2027.

His running style reminds me a bit of Ingram.

If you look at some of the rankings we were like 6th worst in OL adjusted performance on the ground in all of P4 down there with teams like Stanford, Cal and BC.
PFSN: Adjusted Offensive OL RYPA

Our offensive running efficiency wouldn't have been average if we had Najee Harris running the ball because we weren't opening lanes and our backs were having to dance in the backfield to avoid pressure they were feeling before they could even plant to get up field.

The pass blocking was actually pretty good, but relative to talent no one had a worse rushing OL than we did last year so while I didn't like any of our backs last year I don't think we have any idea what they could've done healthy or with even an average Saban era OL.

Its like trying to evaluate WR's when Milroe was running the offense late in 2024, who they hell knows what they were even trying to run at times?

Sounds like some of our dozen TEs are gonna get some more passes.

They weren't apart of the gameday crowd. They didn't arrive until after the game had ended. We noticed it picking up around campus as we left the stadium and was wondering if there was a concert going on that evening or something. By the time we ate and left the student center, they had flooded campus and was continuing to pour in. They covered all the sidewalks around campus to downtown.

Granted I had no issues BUT some of those groups were popping off at one another to the point where I knew something would eventually go down. Definitely seemed like a teen takeover. I live in Atlanta and have been seeing that lot around here.

What do we know about freshman TE Mack Sutter?

He's listed at 6'5 250. His father was in the NFL. Is this kid ready?

If one of these TEs pan out as a stud then it changes a lot for the offense. I know Ford has been getting high praise already. Keelon or Mack both have the skills to be able to hit big TEs down the seem. Mack has great size to see over the middle and Keelon has a great release and arm strength to drive the ball up the seem.

If we are gonna be rolling with two and even three TE sets, we need one who can get vertical, one who is good with misdirection, and one who can block like hell. We are lucky if one guy can do two of those. Very rarely will you find a guy who can do all three.

Derek Meadows looked good, made some tough catches.

I've been high on since he committed. He has the size, speed, and hands to be an exceptional receiver. Looked really good on Saturday.

It does suck the Rodgers went down as far as depth, but between Williams-Coleman, Brooks, Meadows, and Morgan we should have a pretty potent WR core. If Rico Scott were to live up to his potential, then even better.

Keelon's pocket presence concerned me. A handful of his throws were not ones he would've gotten off in a true game with edges playing for real contact. Reminded me of Manziel dancing around in the backfield in terms of footwork quality. The seam throw to Meadows and that touchdown over the DB on the sideline (one where the db jumped 5 yards forward for no reason) both felt rushed and could-be interceptions.

Mack made some bone-headed throws and was inaccurate at times (same as last year) but his pocket movement felt leagues ahead.

I don't know if yesterday truly answered any questions for me on the QB's, especially if Mack truly is banged up. I feel pretty good about the WR Corp though

You could say this about 90+% of deep throws that have even decent coverage. There's always a chance for a pick. But 4 TD's proved those throws weren't an anomaly, at least for that particular scrimmage. The QB competition didn't have to be put to rest yesterday, but we damn sure saw something instead of both guys not looking great. Kind of strange to paint it as a negative or brush off Russell's peformance completely.
