No - that would be Mike Leach
Based on achievements while at Miss State, it was absolutely Mullen. That's not even debatable.

DeBoer would be good. But, Saban built a machine at Alabama. Would DeBoer know how to keep recruiting, practices, game scouting, etc. top notch?
Gonna stop you right here. If the standard is Saban, might as well close shop. 57 year old Saban is not out there

No sir. We all love Leach because he’s wacky and funny and he’s a very good coach. Dan Mullen had Mississippi State ranked number 1 in the country…which is insane.
Any list of best Miss St coaches that doesn’t start with Mullen and then Jackie Sherrill is incorrect

That's because that buyout is big to you personally. It isn't big to others.

This is my choice

It seems interesting now that I happened into a conversation with some connected people after the TSIO game and the conversation was about “who you think will come after Saban” and Lanning was the name mentioned most prominently. I jokingly asked if Saban’s commercial buddy would be a real play and that got a good laugh but also no outright denial. But my vibe was that the conversations were happening and Lanning was the talk amongst the people of import.

Yes.

I just can't see Lanning now with that huge buyout.
Guys, forget about the buyout. Its real money, but it will be a capital expense just like a building that will be amortized and depreciated over time. It looks like Lanning, but if it is not, it will not be because of his buyout.

I get the sense that Saban has personally reached out to someone that he thinks should take his place. I would also imagine that receiving a call from *the* Nick Saban suggesting you succeed him would be hard to not answer, because that would have to be one of the highest honors in the career field of being a college football coach. But I could be wrong.

I just got a text that said it’s Lanning expect the announcement. That’s only 1 text though don’t freak out.

Smart copied Saban’s system and, I would argue, that UGA is the top program in the country now. Smart didn’t have to be innovative. Who ever we choose can’t wreck the ambulance.

Nobody’s gonna get shite done at work this wk. everyone is pulverizing the refresh key

You think he more likely to bring Tosh with him or try to get his buddy Schumann to leave UGA?

Lanning's buyout isn't an issue. How many schools have had to fire a coach, pay him and his assistants, and then hire a new guy? Bama is in a good position financially.
