I've looked through the most recent 2023 mock drafts and Ricks is not in any of them. Most of that "first round" nonsense was based on hype from last spring.

Tunmise Adeleye of Texas A&M is in the portal. We recruited him pretty heavily, as I recall.

number 2 couldnt tackle the barn's QB. Went for his feet and came up with air. First down auburn, again. The DC want not the only person involved in that defense.

Drew Pyne, Notre Dame starting QB, in the portal with 3 years remaining. Kinda surprising, right?

I'm guessing he wasn't gonna be the guaranteed starter for 2023 after taking over due to injury this year.

Him going from talking about starting in the bowl game to transferring 2 or 3 days later tells me he didn't like his end of the season meeting.

He's got a wet noodle for an arm, he lives and dies under 10 yards. Not being able to push the ball was a big reason he lost the job in camp...

The dude he replaced due to injury was just announced the starter for the bowl game. I think the writing was kind of on the wall for him.

Curious if anyone feels we should pursue a transfer QB or just coach up the guys we have? I'd like to see what Ty could do, but he won't really have the experience you might want. Not sure Milroe would ever be the answer.

I'm assuming that Milroe enters the portal if he doesn't win the job, which I'm also assuming that Simpson wins it.

I think that Simpson will be good, but it wouldn't hurt bringing an upperclassman in with some experience for competition and depth's sake.

Any idea of a possible transfer option? I know some people would like to see Drake come over, but doubt he would leave UNC.

I honestly don't understand the Drake Maye love. I fully expect Ty Simpson to be our QB in 2023, barring injury. He has a pocket presence and throwing ability Milroe just doesn't.

We have the 8th- and 9th-rated QBs in the 2023 recruiting cycle committed (Holstein and Lonergan). If you want to see the QB room empty out via the transfer portal, just bring in a transfer QB.

I hope Milroe doesn't transfer if he doesn't win the job, but I'd understand if he did.

I really don't know much about Maye other than seeing his name pop up on here a good bit. I would like to see Ty get his shot with a capable OC. I'd love for Milroe to stay but wonder if he needs to look at a position change. He might be a hell of a tight end if he could run routes and catch the ball. He's got the size and speed.

Throw a lot of $$$ at Drake Maye to come in and light it up for a year. Have Simpson behind him. Then have Simpson start the next two years.

There's a lot of smoke right now about Maye wanting to play for an actual contender while solidifying his 1st round status. He could just be using it as a negotiation tactic to get more cash from UNC but he was committed at one point here. I wouldn't blame him, Trubisky and Howell were both at one point highly regarded and we see how that's going. Alabama has been pumping out 1st round picks. Just have to beat out schools like Ohio St, UGA, and Clemson for him.

Lonergan

Your point stands, but Lonergan may never take a snap. I've seen several places say he's potentially a 1st Rd pick in the 2023 MLB Draft.

I think if the fit is right for a 1-2 year transfer, you make the attempt. A guy like Hank Bachmeier or Brett Gabbert, experienced players who have shown talent, but "baggage" that makes them still have to compete for a job.

You want the homegrown talent to win the job, but you could also be looking at a QB depth chart with just 2 scholarship QBs with little to no experience.

Some are saying DJ Uiagalele is going to enter the portal soon. We were going after his brother, Matayo, at one point, they may want to go to the same school. Not sure if we'd have any interest in a package deal, a DL and an experienced QB.

I've heard if they are a package deal they will go to Ohio State. Other than that, I've heard Matayo is going to USC if he doesn't go to Ohio State. I've heard Oregon is interested in DJ. And, if I were advising DJ I would tell him to look at Washington too. Kalen DeBoer is a special offensive coach.

Please provide a link other than some random poster on a UA site. Because around campus he is king and his family has no desire for him to go anywhere else. He is not transferring from UNC
