The front page of discussion topics should be lively, and naturally refresh every 2-3 days

Individual topics rather than inclusion in the megathread would probably create more discussion for the simple fact that some folks would bump the topic later, whereas some people won't scroll through a 500 page thread to find the discussion of that specific thing.

No huge deal to me, but it would create at least some more activity.

I also don't like the megathreads. It works for the recruiting threads, but I feel like news gets lost in the others.

Agree 100%. No megathread is needed for football topics and probably basketball as well. The more minor sports, sure.

I agree with you and disagree on certain things.

When people make a topic for every thought they have it gets tedious for mods to with delete or merge topics that are already talked about, so it is much easier to have everything in the same place.

But on the flip side, it is sometimes difficult to follow 3 or 4 discussions within the megathread when some of the replies are to a post two pages back.

I understand your issue, but tbh, the way you decided to bring it up was probably the worst way possible. If you want a guarantee nothing will change, start a topic calling people or processes retarded. Excellent way to think that one through.

topics that people don't want to discuss just roll off the board. Why would mods delete or merge them?

I think we just like seeing how many posts we can get in a thread.

One thread for a whole football season or basketball season is incredibly dumb and a pain in the arse for people on mobile. I’m never here on desktop.

Although I do think we had individual football game threads last year.

Breaking the Fluff story in the Basketball off-season thread was horrible.

Yeah there can and should be a balance. Otherwise you just get pages full of dumb shower thoughts and spicy hot takes like on most active team boards and the good discussion is drowned out.

As BLG pointed out, bad threads naturally are ignored, and roll off the board.

We don't need thread paranoia killing board activity.

I'd rather see people start new threads about taking a shite than staring at the same inactive threads for months on end.

There's nothing stopping you or anyone else from creating new threads. You just proved it. And if you enjoy the SEC Rant so much more, why aren't you there right now?

LOL wut? That's the exact opposite of how literally any message board works. The stupid threads generate the most clicks and activity.

Leave the basketball megathread out of this it is awesome. Leave it alone.

It is the most active thread on this page and I don’t think people want the board flooded with basketball topics during football season

I like the mega threads instead of the board being littered with rehashed recruiting questions or player discussion. The number of threads on the front page don’t determine the amount of discussion in my opinion. If you have something you want to discuss throw it out there and let’s discuss it.

subjective topics do sometimes get a lot of activity and personally I don't see anything wrong with that, but likewise, interesting discussions get a lot of activity.

On more active but moderated sports boards I more often see less off topic arguments and more sports discussions. The less interesting discussion roll off. The more interesting keep getting bumped.

Course, I haven't seen many posters stressing the importance of how active this board is or is not. TiderInsider has a very active football board and it's $48 a year.

So it basically boils down to you not liking the way other people are using this board.

Unless I'm mistaken, the mods aren't deleting threads, people just aren't starting them because they're enjoying the megathreads.

The search function on this site is terrible, so unless that improves, I'm not a fan of 3-5 different threads discussing the same news because it fell off the front page and someone didn't see it before starting a new one.

And one more note, the less like tRant we are, the better.
