I mean, T-Rob was obviously active but you weren’t paying attention the past 17 years if you don’t understand that Saban was hands-on with the defensive backs. Yes, he was coaching those guys daily. And whatever T-Rob was coaching them was what Saban told him.

I doubt they were in the tower. But Saban did say this during the Rece Davis interview:

quote:

My role was a little different this year," Saban said. "I was more involved with the defense, had to be more involved with the defense.

So he was having to do more to take up somebody's slack. Probably Steele's. But maybe he was having to hold TRob's hand.

He did that just to get Caleb Downs.

And to get inside information on Saban's recruiting evaluations. Saban was elite at evaluating people to fit his system (which Kirby copied).

Lol. The amount of delusion is scary
saban himself said he had to directly coach the secondary more this year in that retirement interview, was one of the reasons he got wore out and felt he wasn't able to do the job he wanted to on with the rest of the team

He was speaking about gameplanning.

He was not coaching the corners and safeties. Lol.

Saban was hands-on with the DBs even when Kirby was DC. He has always been. Not sure where you are getting your info.

Wasn't he fired at Michigan? Allegedly for trying to destroy evidence in the sign stealing investigation?

Yes, ive seen the practice videos of him running drills to open practice with the DBs.

I guess we have different opinions what "hands on" and "position coach" mean, and who the players spend the most time with during position group meetings and what not.

But youre certainly free to believe Saban coached all the DBs, and directed every position group meeting, and everywhere else he had to be simultaneously. Agree to disagree

It's not imagined that the dude had never recruited at any place he has ever been . Recruiting is everything and this guy has essentially no experience. Letting Trob walk is insane.

Because i dont roll over and conform like the masses ? My opinions on a message board full of silly opinions bother you ? Sounds like a you problem.

There is a reason Kirby Smart wanted TRob. There is a reason Nick Saban wanted TRob. It would have been wise to retain him somehow, but feel free to help youself to some more sunshine koolaid, its free.

Respectfully disagree with you there, Powhound. Kirby didn't need T Rob, TRob needed Kirby and Kirby saw it as an easy way to get another look at Bama's recruiting board and poach some current and future Bama players. In other words, it was Kirby being a low down snake in the grass again and an a-hole. You'd think he would have more respect for Saban than his first move post Saban is to deal a body blow to the program. He's a dick, plain and simple and he saw a way to cheap shot Alabama and he took it.

All SEC teams heavily favoured to win next year are benefiting at Bama expense. Smart job is so easy now he can get best players from us .. same with Sark.

I think the transfer portal needs to have speed bumps where you cannot enter after coach leaves unless there is a football event like spring practice. They havent even waited for who the def coordinator will be

That is what I am afraid .. he might be too nice. With snakes like Kirby, we have to have someone who can stand up to this.

I dont disagree, but this is war, and you know what they say about war.

Saban has stolen his share of coaches. The UW fans today are feeling we have taken a pretty big shot at them.

(I get your point though, that Kirby shows CNS no respect when maybe he should)

It looks like Washington stadium holds max 72,000 and they only had one game at home that made it to that max.

30K more for The King.

Why would such a great recruiter/ coach like Kirby need TRob? All of Kirby's success is tied to BAMA.

That all changes with DeBoer.

Nope. If uga had a chance with him, they'd gotten him out of high school. He's clearly better than anyone in their current secondary.

He also played HS ball 60 miles from Athens.
