Not a home run hire name, but solid and knows the system. Guessing the defense will be more sound under him than Golding

We clearly didn't get other guys we wanted. This is about as blah as it gets. Hopefully it's a co-thing with Armstrong.

Oh well.

Besides Pruitt, I would be interested to hear who all was interviewed . Just a quiet process

Just have to hope that the Armstrong guy is the next big thing, because the most you can say about this is that at least he's not Golding or Grantham.

Something to think about when considering the possibility of Kevin Steele as DC - He has never coached safeties and we already have an inside linebacker's coach in Armstrong. We would still need a safeties coach unless someone already on staff is going to move to that position.

Armstrong outside linebackers.
Steele inside linebackers.
Still need a safeties coach.
And a defensive line coach if Roach goes to the Texans.

Steele is substantially better than Grantham.

I'm curious to see if he gets a co-DC title.

have a good friend who would know if this is true. I will pick his brain soon. I would consider him an insider.

If we lose Freddie to NFL, Steele can coach DL.

That's why I been saying that none of the guys were an option but I admit I disnt think Saban was gonna hire Steele.

Steele is better than Grantham and Golding.

But I suspect he is a placeholder for Pruitt. I think anyone who was hired was going to be a placeholder, so we were never getting a sexy name.

At his age this should be his last stop.

Any thoughts on why we didn't. I've given mine in the past.

Saban is near the end and doesn't want to change his system and nobody wants to hitch a ride to it? No clue.

But this sucks. Steele isn't a national title level coordinator and has decades of evidence of that. Hopefully we have enough dudes to make up for it.

He at least did a good job of simplifying things at Auburn and letting guys play fast. Maybe that's the idea here. I don't know.

Can't help but feel disappointment
