Kalen DeBoer is 25-10 here. It is time to face reality.

He doesnt belong. He is Brian Kelly.

It’s even worse. 20-10 versus power 4 opponents. I was never thrilled with the hire. He had one good year but it turns out it was a combination of an easy schedule, some luck and a sixth year senior QB.

Sounds a lot like Cignetti without Mendoza...

Paraphrasing Tim Matheson talking about John Belushi in Animal House, “Forget it, they’re rollin’.”

Borrowed from your same thread on the rant.

I'm not happy with the program, but there's no other alternative. This is just useless complaining, which I guess is what message boards are for.

Nothing will make me happier than losing all these fair weather Bama fans that are young and have improper perspective on all that has changed.
Y'all wanna run off good coaches? Ok. Go ahead. I've seen that phase before. Been there, done that. Burned all those shirts.
DeBoer is recruiting very well considering the recruiting changes. We are winning enough to get into the playoffs, which is all that matters to make a run at the national championships. Especially starting next year, it will be easy to get to the playoffs.
Unclench thine asses. Be real Bama fans. Stop using negative energy to "help." It does not help. Do your job. Pump sunshine. Be faithful.
When it's TIME to get rid of a coach you'll know. Stop getting there prematurely. NOTHING about the sport is the same. All things considered, we have weathered the storm well. We'd be much better off when people are realistic, and as patient as possible until the time truly comes that we have no choice.
Stop making it harder for our program unnecessarily. Relax. Roll some Tide. Learn to adapt.

It’s pointless to beat the dead horse. He’s going to be here in 2027 and almost certainly 2028 unless he tanks in 27.

How's that going for us? We've had a sqeaker win against OU and got our arse handed to us against Indiana.... After getting our asses handed to us by UGA in SEC Champ.
Maybe the rest of us have higher standards (?). We're stuck with this slightly better than average coach for a few years.

Whether he's good or not, the fact is, we are stuck with him for a MINIMUM one more year after this one, maybe two. UA cannot afford to fire him now AND bring in a new HC and staff. Fire him now and bring in a new staff, it's probably $100 million and maybe more than that.
Can he turn things around? Who knows? Maybe yes, maybe not, but if he loses two more this year, his coaching seat is going to be molten magma hot next. I hope at a minimum, Greg Byrne insists on Grubb being sent packing.
I'll say this too, Even assuming Bama could scrape together the money, this pickings are slim out there in terms of possible replacements. There is no Nick Saban out there. We were lucky to have him around but there is NO ONE out there quite like him and I don't know that there ever will be.
Kirby is NEVER coming here. Not sure I'd want him anyway.
Dan Lanning is never coming.
Sark isn't coming and he's faltered a bit down the stretch. Zero reason for them to be so mediocre.
Kiffin I wouldn't want and I don't see it ever happening.
Aod who is left? A lot of "maybe"s. One guy I'm kind of curious about and I find intriguing is UCLA coach Bob Chesney. I want to see how things pan out for him this and next at UCLA but if he does well, I think he's a guy who should get a long look.
If you read his bio, he's been a winner everywhere he's been and turned some really bad teams into winners. He's not from the South but is from western Pennsylvania. In terms of values/norms/ethics, etc that are similar to the South, people in western PA are very, very similar.
I worked several months there years ago and was struck by how kind, generous, welcoming and sincere people were there. I really liked them. So, if in two years Bama is looking to make a change, and assuming UCLA has 10+ win seasons, I think Bob Chesney merits a long look.

You heard it here first. Getting into the playoffs is the new standard.
We dont need to win one.

Until there’s a better solution, I don’t want him to leave. If he were to leave tomorrow, I don’t know who is out there that I can easily say would be an upgrade outside Kirby, Cignetti, or 1-2 others.
I think Kalen’s probably good coach but a terrible fit and out of his element in the SEC. The problem is we really don’t know how good he really is overall. Most of his success was in the NAIA and his track record before UA was good but thin.

I feel where you’re coming from and I don’t think it’s time to get rid of him yet but there are some glaring weaknesses. Year three is a tough year to still be figuring that out.
I’ve been a fan since the Bear. I’ve seen all kinds of shite at Alabama, good and bad. But I don’t remember Alabama running off a bunch of good coaches. Shula, Fran, Dubose, even Perkins and especially curry who is becoming the equivalent of deboer, all needed to be ran or shown the door

Let’s see how he rebounds this week with a bad loss and injuries. Important week.

It would be cheaper for the people who are going to get passed the hat to buy DeBoer out to up their roster payroll commitment for a year to see if it helps in 2027 then reevaluate from there.
