This is a valid concern. If Cortney Morgan is good at his job he should have been constantly evaluating players/keeping an eye on other teams lines throughout the year and shouldn’t be caught flat footed.
This one doesn’t make sense. He got playing time. Was he told that there are plans to improve the position group?
In the NIL era we aren’t getting those types of players anymore. Bryce Young and Will Anderson wouldn’t be playing at Bama in 2026. We either don’t have the money or aren’t willing to spend it. That doesn’t mean we can’t have a good team if we are good at talent evaluation and roster building but I have my doubts about this staff. Games are won in the trenches and our O Line has been terrible.

Ty coming back is our best chance of success next year

Couldn’t agree more. Look at the number of average but very experienced QBs who have carried their teams on playoff runs. Ewers, Leonard, Howard, just to name a few. 4/5 years of college experience is valuable to a team.

Yea why would we go after the only coach comparable to Saban outside of Kirby dumb

Cignetti has won one Big10 championship. He is a good coach but comparing him to Saban and Kirby is ridiculous. He has about the same resume as Kalen DeBoer at this point.

I’m all for him coming back. We have seen how valuable experience alone is for the QB position. Ty coming back gives us the best chance to win games next year.

I see a lot of posts saying Russell is gone if Ty comes back but I’m not sure about that. There are a ton of experienced QBs in the portal. He isn’t going to be able to go start for a blue blood/playoff team either way next year.

My point is we need to step up and donate if we want quality new faces instead of this sorry group of losers. We need to hit the portal hard or it will be more of the same.
Like it or not, we are stuck with DeBoer and it will get a lot worse if he doesn’t have talent.
Go donate to Yea Alabama. The portal opens in a few days and even a small donation helps. Even if you don’t think it does, that is like saying your vote doesn’t matter. If we want good players and want to avoid another disaster like today the alums need to step up.
Why did we gift them good field position? Force them to earn it.

They played Oregon and Ohio State already and won. That logic kind of falls apart.

The luck runs out eventually for these types of teams. See TCU, who beat Michigan, OU and Texas. I think Bama wins 28-10 with some game changing plays from Bernard and Horton.
The national media can hype up Indiana all they want but at the end of the day we are the more talented team by far. Our 4 and 5 star athletes will make plays their 3 stars can’t and we will win comfortably.

re: DeBoer and “the fans”

I think the following can all be true:

1. DeBoer is a good coach in certain settings, such as Washington in the Pac12
2. He was the best available option given the timing of Saban’s retirement
3. He can probably consistently win 8-10 games at head coach here every year.
4. He is not a great cultural fit for the University of Alabama and his contract is lopsided.
After TCUs performance a few years ago the Little 12 should never have a team in the playoffs again. It’s basically the same level of competition as the American.
Norman, Roll Tide! Hope to see lots of Bama fans in attendance.

This biggest failure imo is the offensive line.

100% correct. Do we not have enough NIL for elite linemen/have we prioritized other positions or is it a coaching/talent evaluation problem?

How bad did we beat Georgia in the sec championship that year we had to rematch when we lost 2021 ?

Very good point but I feel like this committee will be swayed by the national media, which is all saying Bama should be out.
We are not making the playoffs after this game. The debate is which bowl we get.
If it means we win a championship in 7 years I might take it
