This will be such a hot discussion over the summer. He didn't get an opportunity to play in the way Tua did in blow outs. Understandable because Saban knows we can never be up by enough in SEC play.

To be honest, we are going to need a lot of coaching and scheming ... but it helps to have an all-time offensive line coming in, and a really really interesting running back room. There will be a mix of speed guys and unknowns at RB position.

always think of Eddie Lacy in the Citrus Bowl against MSU. I never took it as Saban being mad about running up the score, but being mad at the other team's coach cause we are running basic plays so we don't run up the score and make it as easy on you as possible and you all can't even stop that

This was my favorite single moment in the Saban era.

A 3 loss season in an otherwise meaningless game, up huge, and Saban lost his shite at the other team (his former team, led by his good friend) for playing so badly. Chewing asses from across the field for lack of effort. Classic.

I'm sure that most of these kids come with the hope and even the intention to play as soon as possible. Since you evidently think Bryce Young isn't ready, I would suggest, according to Milroe's high school statistics, he needs more work to be ready. 82 for 134 (61%), 1237 yards, 13 tds, and a qb rating of 118.3

I think most QBs know they’re not likely to be starters as TF

Remember being pumped up for Blake Barnett to play then he got wrecked on the first snap against USC and lost his lid .. went back and watched Bryce highlights .. hope he is a late bloomer and grows a couple inches .. he looks small

not sure the point. Are you implying that Young will be another Barnett?

I'd note that Young didn't lose his lid in any game or at any time last year.

Secondly, that first snap notwithstanding, Barnett actually wasn't as horrible at Alabama as the reputation has it. in fact a better qb rating than Hurts or Bateman

In any event, I think Young will be much better than Barnett

I got roasted for saying it, but I don't think he's going to live up to the hype. If If I wind up being wrong, I'll admit it.

I'm ready. Let's get him a good QB facemask.

This thread made me go back and look at all his snaps and I am super excited for Bryce now. Just super composed. Of his 9 incompletions 4 of them were drops. Had a ball batted down, didn't keep Smith in bounds on one. Did miss Waddle on a slant for a TD. Handled a couple of bad snaps from Dickerson pretty beautifully. Looked good scrambling. Most of his sacks to me look like issues on the Oline not him holding the ball too long (Leatherwood getting beat against Auburn, the interior missing a stunt on his fumble etc.). Really only made one ill advised throw to Smith against LSU.

Had a couple of delay of games which should be fairly easy to correct and of course even with a missed assignment you have to protect the ball. But overall was accurate, made good decisions and was calm even when things broke down.

ETA: As an aside Jase McClellan is really impressive.

After seeing Kyler Murray in the NFL, I don’t care what size a QB is as long as they win games. It translates, just depends on the coach and scheme.

Is Texas going to attempt to get him or are we in the clear?

as with any skill position player, if he, for some reason does not win the start next year, I would not be surprised to see him hit the portal and Txass to reach out and offer him a spot there...but, he would be competing there also and No one knows what the Ncaa will be doing about the transfer without penalty possibility.

Murray played quite a bit too and looked not very good at all.

Anyone doubting Young didn't watch him play in H.S.

The word "generational" gets tossed around a lot these days, but Young was no doubt a generational player at a powerhouse program.

Yeah I remember a lot of similar criticism for Mac. Obviously don't expect that level of success but I'm confident Bryce is plenty good

I wonder what loser keeps downvoting optimistic or positive posts like yours.
