Not saying Oats is the problem but is getting put out by a Play in team 2 years in a row (once as a TWO seed) really an improvement over not even making the tournament?
you’re either dumb as bricks or trolling. You really got on here and said you weren’t sure if making the Sweet 16 as a 2-seed and then being a 6-seed the following year is better than back to back years of not making it at all. You CANNOT be serious. Our fanbase pisses me off sometimes. This isn’t freaking football, so stop pretending it is. Have realistic expectations.

They will be back "D" riding next season bro so don't let them get too you. Coach Oats has WON everywhere he's been and he will CONTINUE doing so here.

I started to assemble a list of people with embarrassingly stupid takes in this thread, but there are just too many. Thankfully a lot of these morons, trolls, and alters are no longer around. I'm sure they'll come out of the woodwork as soon as we drop a game though.

We're better on a per possession basis on offense, by far.

Oats teams efficiency (points per possession)
2022 - 1.16 (#12)
2021 - 1.12 (#32)
2020 - 1.11 (#33)

Avery's teams efficiency (points per possession)
2019 - 1.08 (#96)
2018 - 1.08 (#103)
2017 - 1.04 (#154)
2016 - 1.05 (#150)

Defensively we were #3 in the country in adjusted PPP last year (0.90). This year we are #107 (0.99).

This team is not about 3's or offense. It's about turnovers and defense.

#107 in efficiency defense
#270 in turnover rate
#280 in defensive rebounding
#289 in free throw rate defense

We can't guard without fouling. We don't rebound well. We give away 10-12 points a game off live ball turnovers. It's pretty damn simple why we suck.

Hey whats up feeling pretty good about this Roll Tide.

Hey, guess what we are WAY better at this year compared to last (hint - it isn't offense!)??????????

Nate Oats sucks and the coaches on the bench though great recruiters, suck as well. This is a high school and mid major system that has no chance in the SEC. Our head coach(Herb Jones) from the last two years is in the NBA. Oats is tremendously lacking the X's and O's. No idea of game management. Example, Holt went from playing in the SEC tournament to 1 minute tonight. What happened? Or did he get playing time because he was upset with his minutes. Oats has to toughen up as a coach. Remember he kissed John Petty's arse last year after Petty became upset with his minutes. Nice coaches finish last. There was too much talent on this team(remember Oats said this preseason that this might be his most talented team) for the season to go as it did(downward). The ship was headed for a wreck and our wonderful coach(as some say, had no clue on how to savage it. Alabama is lacking a true veteran coach on that sideline(assistant and head). Oats beat Arizona in the NCAA tournament(with a team full of guards) a couple of years ago and became a hot commodity. Two great coaches, Pitino and Calipari have already put in question how Oats system will work at this level. When he blow next season with the talent he's bringing in, the hot seat will start warming. If he don't add adjustments to this high school system, failure is a certain! #RollTide

Even the great coaches have had bad teams occasionally in college basketball. Especially with how the NBA draft rules can leave great coaches in a complete rebuild unexpectedly.

It is concerning, though, that Oats had a team skilled enough to beat some of the opponents they beat but still end up going 1-and-done in both the SEC and NCAA tournaments (lets be honest, losing in the first round and finishing the season 0-4 is almost a mortal lock).

I'm willing to chalk this up to just a bad team much like what Bruce Pearl experienced last year across the state. He's a good coach but his pieces didn't fit last year. Still, I'm guarded about handing Oats the kind of trust you give to a legit great in the profession. 2022-2023 season looms large for Oats in my opinion. He needs a rebound season to avoid a stagnant or declining trend.

well i forgot about this but i was fair

It will be Nate's fault if he doesn't clean house

Oh he 100% will. I see 3 maybe 4 players returning. Plus the 5 new recruits and the 4 or 5 transfer additions

The #1 player last year is the #3 point guard. Spot on
