Talent evaluation shouldnt even be a concern, the upcoming recruiting class features 4 top 75 players (2 in top 25) that EVERYONE wanted , so we didnt beat out midmajors and bottom feeding power 5 programs to sign these kids. This offense consistently creates open and easy looks... It might need a tweak or 2 but only 2 of the incoming freshman really shoot the 3 , and bradley is a driver with a midrange game. The issue is defense and we ll have the personnel next season to look like the team last year was defensively. Oats and staff are ahead on building this program and the culture is better than its been in decades.

Either your downvotes are coming from rival trolls or dumb FOGS, but its comical when someone makes a well thought out post and gets downvoted

The mmalzahn comparison literally makes zero sense, and kind of an insult to Nate.

Let's revisit this thread...

I get that ND got hot and made everything... Was is our defense or lack of? Who's fault is that (jimmy and Joe or is it X and O scheme)?

Lets see we lost our PG in the first 4 minutes. We have sucked all year when Quinerly doesn’t play well and we didn’t have him at all today. I hope to never see JD Davison in an Alabama uniform again

Nate Oats sucks and the coaches on the bench though great recruiters, suck as well. This is a high school and mid major system that has no chance in the SEC. Our head coach(Herb Jones) from the last two years is in the NBA. Oats is tremendously lacking the X's and O's. No idea of game management. Example, Holt went from playing in the SEC tournament to 1 minute tonight. What happened? Or did he get playing time because he was upset with his minutes. Oats has to toughen up as a coach. Remember he kissed John Petty's arse last year after Petty became upset with his minutes. Nice coaches finish last. There was too much talent on this team(remember Oats said this preseason that this might be his most talented team) for the season to go as it did(downward). The ship was headed for a wreck and our wonderful coach(as some say, had no clue on how to savage it. Alabama is lacking a true veteran coach on that sideline(assistant and head). Oats beat Arizona in the NCAA tournament(with a team full of guards) a couple of years ago and became a hot commodity. Two great coaches, Pitino and Calipari have already put in question how Oats system will work at this level. When he blow next season with the talent he's bringing in, the hot seat will start warming. If he don't add adjustments to this high school system, failure is a certain! #RollTide

shite Happens.

This isn't as bad as Kentucky going out.

Or Alabama going out first round in the NIT.

Nate has some growing to do. Motivation, execution, leadership--it ALL comes down to the head coach. The buck stops there.

I wonder about his system too. See plenty of people making jumpers that we avoid. Maybe he's over thinking the analytics.

JD is young and a little too rough around the edges. I hope he comes back. He has real "next level" physicality and ability. Just needs to take care of the ball better.

Not writing this coaching staff off. See what happens next year.

I am not in favor of firing him at this point after all we still are a 6 seed in the NCAA with a a brutal schedule

Well it's good to hear that!

Just want to remind everyone that we went from 2007 - 2011 and 2013 - 2017 without even making the tournament.

We were a TWO seed last year. Let's pump the brakes on "is Nate Oats the problem".

Just ignore the FOGS and twitter simpletons... Nobody with half a brain thinks oats is the problem. We had some limitations this year that reared their heads. His offense is beautiful, unselfish basketball when its executed and every top high school player is taking notice. When ur a top 15 offensive efficiency team and youre shooting the 3 poorly it proves the system still works. Going forward next year i think we may see more increase with our paint and at the rim points which may benefit us better with the players we have coming. Griffen, miller, and reportedly burnett all can shoot the 3 but i think we ll adjust the system.

The fact that Bama beat 5-6 teams that made it to the Sweet Sixteen is proof the talent was there and the coaching did not properly utilize it. Of course Oats shouldn't be fired but there was no excuse at all for not finishing the regular season much better. And a team should get better as the year goes on not worse. Every thing seemed to fall apart after the hard fought win against Arkansas.

Not saying Oats is the problem but is getting put out by a Play in team 2 years in a row (once as a TWO seed) really an improvement over not even making the tournament? I mean, prior to Oats we were not making the tournament thus underachieving in everyone's eyes and now we are making the tournament as a 2 and 6 seed and getting bounced early thus underachieving as well so .....

Year 4 should bring clarity to which direction the program is headed.

We're better off now than with Avery or Grant.

We continue to have some of the dumbest basketball fans on the planet. This take is so bad I think you might be trolling.

This is a horrible take. Yes it’s obviously an improvement to make the tournament than to not make the tournament.

I hope it’s a troll. If not, I don’t even know where to start with that thought process.

I’ve read some stupid shite on this board over the many years I’ve wasted here, but this might take the cake. Way to go man.
