I’ve said it before but I felt better about winning at Auburn than tonight.

Going in there and ruining their last home game will make a lot of us forget this horrible run a little

What do you think? A three seed at best in the NCAA tournament?

A 2-seed probably, 3-seed at worst. Check the teams below us and look at our SOS...

The difference is the type of player we recruit. For instance look at Nelson and Stevenson. Pearl and Barnes wouldn’t dare recruit them because they are soft as cotton and they prefer tougher interior players. Oats gets lost in the analytics department and forgets sometimes it comes down to jimmies and joes. Holloway didn’t fit in at the barn because he wasn’t a fit with their tough culture. He fits here because we play finesse and shoot a bunch of threes.

Florida is a tough one but I think Missouri was the worst match up i saw.
Nah, we played well offensively against Missouri. We just didn't guard them. Missouri doesn't have the post presence to challenge us like Florida does.

We couldn't guard them because we didn't match up. We couldn't handle their long quick guards and keep them out of the lane and Mitchell ate our arse up inside with 31 points because none of our bigs are quick enough.

That's the definition of a bad match up.

Gave up 110 freaking points.

Predicted to win the conference and end up going 6-3 in your home conference slate., which includes games against bottom feeders like LSU and Oklahoma, is unacceptable in my book.
Not unexpected though.
I've been a basketball fan for too many decades to not know how this season was going to turn out

Did it empty out for the senior presentation after the game or did the fans hang around?

Just made it home. That sucked. The fans showed up to send the Seniors off and we got out worked. Oof.

It’s not strange when it becomes a pattern, comes down to hustle and just being smart.

Is one game a pattern? During this "backslide" (otherwise known as a brutal schedule), Alabama collectively won the rebounding battle by 5 (and it was 20 before today). Alabama has been great at rebounding and hustle all year. One game doesn't change that.

Tonight was beyond frustrating and there were some moments where effort was a problem, but everything also went just right for Florida in this one. A few wild bounces to the side off of FTs (speaking of which I've never seen so many rimmed in FTs). The earlier tip hurt with Mo pretty clearly dragging because of Ramadan. Aidan who was our best big by far tonight getting hurt at a crucial time. And while I wouldn't say it's to blame for the loss, the whistle definitely didn't do us any favors (we start closing the gap when the whistle suddenly appears, go figure). And on top of all that, Florida is already the worst matchup for us in the entire country.

Team needs to get better on d and find some physicality. Way too much money tied up in this team to not make at least s16, preferably e8 for the $.

We gotta get tougher too soft.

We get outmuscled for every 50/50 ball.

We must give up 25 extra points a game off of 2nd chance and Live Ball turnovers

Everyone take. Deep breath..

The only thing that matters at this point is the Tournament.

We are no lower than a 2 seed.. we have 10 Quad 1 wins.

Do we need to play better defense? Absolutely!

But we have yet to play our best basketball.. I believe we still have something in the tank

Seeing Tennessee and Missouri lose right after us puts things into a bit of perspective. We have a top 4 conference seed. So we won't have to play until Friday, no matter what happens on Saturday.

So you saw the SEC being historically the best conference of all time this year?

Finishing Top 4 in the conference with an expected top 8 tourney seed and being in the Top 10 all season is hardly something to bemoan.

You haven’t watched enough Bama basketball to be so pessimistic with this year. Every coach since Wimp would be clamoring for a huge raise based off this year alone.

This team would probably be considered one of the best 3 teams in Alabama history through the regular season. But Oats has elevated the program to the point where it's maybe not even top 3 in his short tenure.

If this team makes the sweet 16, I’m happy. Just want to still have a chance in the second weekend. We would have died for such accomplishments as basketball fans in the 2010s. It’s still an accomplishment for even established programs. I think that’s where people get my point twisted about it being their probable ceiling. It’s a good year but not a net cutting one.

I still think this is his best team. They aren't unbeatable, like a lot of people apparently thought they would be, but they're very, very good. It just so happens our schedule has been ridiculous. That, and Auburn is having their best year ever, and that’s rubbing Bama fans wrong.

This team can beat any team in the country on a neutral floor. That doesn't mean we're Final Four bound, but we have as good as chance as anyone, depending on the draw.

I’d have a hard time putting this team over our 2023 #1 overall NCAAT team that won both SEC championships and had a 7 point second half lead against the NC runner up. It took an absolutely abysmal 3 point shooting night and refs completely swallowing their whistles to knock that team out, or they probably make the Championship game against UConn.

This might be 2nd best, but that 2021 team got this whole party started and won 2 rings…so I’d probably rank this team 3rd at this point. Last year would actually be 4th “best” despite the NCAAT success.

I think, if this team isn't his best, then that one was. But, that team loses a couple more games, at least, in this year's SEC. It's too bad about the distraction and the injuries in the post season that year.

But, I really like this year's team. I think if our guards were a little longer, we'd be ranked at, or very near #1 right now. But, all teams have weaknesses. We're still one of the best 5 teams in the country, in my opinion.
