Alabama is so talented that they can shutdown many teams just by the talent differential. You really gotta evaluate Alabama’s defense against similar talent level and the productivity in that respect has been poor since Pruitt left.

I wouldn’t say poor but more inconsistent. I never felt confident with Pete calling the shots as defensive coordinator. He was in over his head at times. Saban is a great coach but he should have moved on from Pete a couple of years ago.

There's no fricking way a Nick Saban ILB should get dragged 5 yds down field after contact.

I agree, we should be better this year now that we have an actual ILB coach. Golding was a horrendous ILB position coach. You can see a clear difference in the way the ILB position group played In the A-Day game, they were attacking downhill and looked like the ILB position groups of past teams.

Robert Bala is an excellent linebacker coach. We should see improvement this year and there is depth at the position. Really want to see if Justin Jefferson can get some playing time. He is so fast and disruptive.

but any team giving up 30+ multiple games a year isn’t winning a Natty.

Alabama only gave up 14 to Arkansas in 2015. Ole Miss and Clemson were the only teams who scored more than 30.

The defense adopts the DC's mindset to a degree. And since Golding was an undisciplined drunk...
There's no way players respected that guy as a coach or leader.

Yeah not many people like Will Muschamp as a person but he’s a great defensive coordinator. And I personally can’t stand him. But objectively he’s better than Golding as a coach.

I also said “Unless you offense is scoring 50+ a game.”
We scored 50+ in both of those games in 2020
We scored 40+ in both in 2018.
Our offense was in no shape to carry us last season.
