This dude brought up McElroy to shite on him and I said he won a championship and Bryce didn't. These are facts.

Greg McElroy was a quality QB who won a championship and I in no way was running him down.

Tua, Mac and Bryce were each all-American, 1st rd draft picks who will start in the NFL for a decade each.

Calling someone better than someone else isn’t running someone else down when the three I mentioned have outperformed GMac statistically. No idea why you are taking this personally or refusing to just acknowledge that it’s better to have an elite QB than a good or functional QB.

We won those championships bc we had elite defenses and OL play. Those are the facts.

You also mentioned efficient QB play. Bryce was highly efficient. Greg was not. He was in 2010 but not in 2009. He had some stinkers

Point is you’re attacking the wrong issues

Greg had one genuinely great game that I remember (2009 vs UF) and one half vs AU in 2010. The rest were pretty forgettable overall aside from a few plays here and there. Bryce, Tua and even Mac are in another stratosphere compared to GMac.

The fact that Bryce was able to do what he did with the surrounding pieces that were dealt to him in 2021 and 2022 is freaking amazing. The 21 offense was rebuilt from the ground up. Only three starters from the 2020 offense returned and he had BoB calling plays. The offensive line aside from Evan Neal was average. The receivers were Williams and Metchie. That’s it. Very little running game after McClellan and Williams were injured. To absolutely shred the Georgia defense in that SEC Championship game was an amazing achievement. He deserves every accolade that he got. The defense under Golding was wildly inconsistent from 2020-22.

By the Iron Bowl we were down to having a WR at backup RB (Leary I think?) One of the most wild hits to one position rivaling only ILB preseason 2019. It would've been a lot worse for Bryce last year without Gibbs, which is kind of scary to think about.

Luckily this year it looks like 'Bama is back to being loaded at RB, with two veteran guys to lean on along with the young talent ready to break loose. Only thing holding them back is OLine play and some decent playcalling for once.

Two weeks after being involved in a physical altercation with Alabama director of player development Josh Chapman, Jamil Burroughs has entered the NCAA transfer portal.

June 16

quote:

Burroughs reportedly struck assistant strength coach and former Alabama defensive lineman Josh Chapman after an argument surrounding the use of gel pellet guns. Tsoukalas reported that Burroughs and other Crimson Tide players were play-fighting with the toy weapons at Bryant Hall when police were called to the scene — as well as Chapman. The other players involved were cooperative — Burroughs apparently was not, striking Chapman in the process.

I'm interested to see who takes advantage of the chance for early/additional playing time.

OT but David Pollack laid off by ESPN today. Best news I’ve heard today. Good riddance.

BoB sucked arse for sure, but Golding was far worse in the grand scheme of it all.

I can't stand BoB, but I'll take another year of this offense before I deal with seeing a defense this talented underachieve again when all the marbles on the line.

People forget during the Georgia NC game guys were wide open they just couldn't catch the damn ball, the offense was good enough to win the game but that defense had numerous upon numerous breakdowns in their assignments and tackling.

Golding should have been gone after the 2020 season. His defense gave up huge numbers at times and we all know how undisciplined they’ve been with penalties. The lack of communication between players was frustrating to see too. I respect Saban but I think that he made a mistake not making a change from Golding a couple of years ago.

Greg McElroy was a three-star recruit who we took after failing to nab Tebow out of Florida. The kid played well considering his talent level. He was very efficient and smart with the football. He also played at a time when the running game was the main source of our offense. His 2010 season was statistically very impressive. He threw for almost 3,000 yards, completed over 70% of his throws, and threw 20 TDs to just 5 interceptions.

Golding just didn’t seem to scheme rushing the QB very well. Will should’ve had a better year than he did but Golding’s plays just sucked.

He couldn't scheme anything very well unless it was against an FCS team.

He seemed to scheme the air raid offense that Mike Leach ran. That’s about it.

Hate to say anything that even seems like it's defending Golding, but both starting corners were out for that game, and I think another position as well? That combined with the injuries to Metchie and J. Williams was too much to overcome, and 'Bama was still a few wide open catches away from winning that one.
