special teams coach? Kirby is really reaching now
If Saban promoted Scott "Yeah!" Cochran to be our Special Teams coach, I'd be asking myself, WTF is Saban thinking?

In talking today to Nick Saban, he’s quick to credit Scott Cochran for what he meant to @AlabamaFTBL. But Saban also told me Cochran wanted to pursue a new career path as an on-the-field coach, which Saban understands, but Saban wasn’t ready to go that route with him at Bama.

I’m already asking that, but about other things.
Which reminds me... I wonder why no one out there- I mean no one at all- is rushing to poach Peter Golding from our staff.
I just can’t imagine why they aren’t.

Probably because he's 35 years old and the only other places he has held down a job were Tusculum College, Delta State, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern Miss, and UTSA.
If our defense shows improvement this year and sustains in 2021, someone will try to hire him away from us.

I was being sarcastic. I already know why they’re not lining up to poach him.
Hint: it’s because he sucks.
Bad.

Oklahoma wanted to hire Golding last winter. In hind sight, I think (jmo) Saban should've let them have him and pay us his buyout. Karl Scott and Charles Kelly as Co-DCs could've done a better job than Pete has, imo

Nick Saban tells ESPN why Scott Cochran chose to leave Alabama (BamaOnLine | segments)
quote:
“Scott did a really good job for us here and was a big part of our success, but he was looking for a new career path,” Saban told ESPN. “He wanted to get on to the field coaching and would like one day, I think, to be a head coach. We didn’t really have anything here to offer him along those lines, and Georgia did. I understand him wanting to take on that path.”
“We’re in a good position to bring in somebody at the top of their profession, and I think we’ll have a lot of people interested,” Saban said. “I’m excited to see who all is out there.”

time like this where Boz would step in and tell us what he is hearing, but AMH 21 ruined it for us.

Did Boz quit the board?

Feld was the first name I thought of. Hell, I didn't even know he was a 'bama native.

Feld is supposedly interviewing tomorrow according to the guys on BOL. Feld would be a great hire.

But, did we know back then that Karl Scott would be looking like he's looking now (a future big-time DC)?

Boz is still here. He's just quit sharing inside info. I would've quit sharing it too, if I was in his shoes. Thanks go to AHM21, Bamabenny, 3down10 and a few others for convincing Boz that it's just not worth doing it.

Saban ain't wasting time, aight.
This would be a home run hire...how quickly can they reshoot those Regions commercials with Feld

Unless Feld completely bombs this interview, I believe he’ll get the job

Feld has also grown up in similar Saban tree systems at Georgia and then running it for Cristobal at Oregon (as well as his time on staff at Alabama), so he'd understand and have experience with the nature of his entire responsibilities in the off-season.
From the outside seems like a great successor to Cochran.

The key to replacing Cochran is the motivational/player relationship element. All these dudes know how to get guys strong and fit—gotta check the other boxes. Feld intrigues me for sure.

There's some good stuff out there on him showing not only his relentless drive to improve, but his ability to motivate and instill his philosophies in the weight room. Comes off as a good teacher.
He's out there practicing what he preaches and holding himself to arguably a higher standard than what he expects out of the athletes.

Oregon was a lot more physical this past season.
