BAMA could be in trouble if the game starts as many have this year

One thing I've noticed all season is that BAMA starts the games very conservative. How many times has BAMA started with 2 runs up the middle and an incomplete pass then punt. As the game goes on the Tide picks up speed.

This is exactly what happened at A&M. We punted and A&M came out raging. With the result that they scored 2 fast TDs.

If the cow college comes out raging and the Tide comes out like little girls again BAMA could be in trouble. BAMA needs to come out raging. Maybe 2 big running backs like TJ and Henry in the back field so one can block.

If the cow college puts 8 in the box then cooper and Norwood can make holes in their pass defense. They have no pass defense.

Lets not let a ton of bricks fall on us.

Roll Tide! War Chicken!

With only looking at our 3 closest games...

Got a 7 yard run on first down against TAMU it was the penalties and short pass that stopped that drive.

Against LSU started with a 13 yard run and then followed it up with an 8 yard run. A couple of incomplete passes stopped that drive.

Against Miss St started with a 19 yard pass to Coop.

Yea so none of those back up your claims. That's why its good to do research first.

The dreaded Bama bubble screen for 0-4 yards.

I think it's less being conservative than coming out too tight in big games. Didn't the UT game start with a long TD pass?

Third play. On a short screen pass.

Nailed it! I am not a Nussmeier fan at all. I think he is one of those offensive coordinators that would rather try to prove how brilliant he is than win the game. He lost the aTm game last year, almost lost the LSU & UGa games last year with his refusal to run the ball. If I see us come out 4-wide shotgun on 3rd or 4th & short one more time...

Nussmeier and McElwain have both done great jobs with this offense. Would you rather have Applewhite back? First Jmac was too conservative and now Nuss isn't?

I like Nuss better than McElwein. McElwein's offenses seemed to have a tougher time in the redzone and he kind of had a ceiling as far as offensive production was concerned. Nuss can be stubborn though and I completely agree that his playcalling cost us the A&M game last year. He does have a tendency to go away from our strengths at critical times and on occasion he seems to favor balance just for the sake of balance. However, when Nuss gets into a zone, he can be a brilliant playcaller.

It's absolutely imperative that we have a fast start on Saturday. If we can get a TDs early, it will take AU out of their comfort zone. Phil Savage even said that the game will come down to Alabama's offense vs. Auburn's defense.

Knowing Ellis he will start out two high safety. First play should be something deep down the middle to split them.

Yep. Penalties and poor execution in the passing game have caused early drives in other games to stall. I'd like to see us start with some easy throws to RBs or TEs to get AJ in a rhythm early on.

Maybe it's just indigestion, but I don't see us having a slow start for this game.

I've been telling everybody this and most think I am crazy. I wouldn't be surprised if we get down by 2 possessions early in the game but I think we will slow them down.

I keep seeing people say this but i can easily see this playing out like the TAMU game, without the late JFF heroics. They score first and maybe second and then we just throttle them from there.

I like Nuss a lot, much more than Mcelwain, even though Mcelwain's last year was nice for the most part.

Yeah. Our D started out slow against A&M and LSU too. I think we just come out tight.

Me either. Opposing teams have the most success against the Bama D on their first two drives of the game. These are typically scripted plays that aren't on film. Once those are gone, Saban and Smart put them on lockdown.

I think more pressure is on Auburn, personally. They have overachieved this season, and are housing the #1 team and biggest rival in Alabama. They will have a lot of emotion and pressure on them, despite their fans saying it's all "house money". I think their overexcitement will cause them to make mistakes. Marshall will throw a couple of picks, imo.

Alabama will not come out slow in this game. Alabama has been conservative against Miss State and Chattanooga. Saban, the staff, and this great football team will be smelling blood in the water come 2:30 Saturday.

Also I like Nuss a lot as well. People always bring up that he cost us the A&M game. Getting in a 20-0 hole cost and not getting off the field on 3rd down cost Bama that game. I thought he called a brilliant game against Aggie this year.
