So many LSU fans bragged about how they beat a healthy Tua than letter on criticized Saban because Tua “obviously wasn’t healthy”.

Welcome to Louisiana. The state as a whole is full of human garbage, but south of I-10 is a goddamn third world country.

They’re not though. I’m telling y’all I’ve lived around this fan base and grew up an Alabama fan. This is how they want to behave on here and in person. This is not message board persona. I’ve not once in the last 8 yrs hammered my buddies after Bama beat LSU. They couldn’t wait to get to me whether at church or wherever I was. I’ve had people I don’t know get angry because of a Bama shirt or once even a Yeti with a Bama logo on it.

Yea. All of this . That and the comments after Tua got hurt have made me where I will NEVER pull for them . It’s ok to talk shite about a game but some of their comments were way over the top

This place has been insufferable for almost 10 years. Ever since the Cam Newton scandal broke in November 2010, the SEC Rant has been a trollfest of epic proportions. I tend to avoid it once football season has wound down. The next time you'll see me posting at length on that board will be during SEC Media Days in July.

There’s no reason to post on sec rant anymore if you care about any sort of decent discussion. The mods refuse to clean it up, so whatever. It might be worth looking into creating another site with some sort of happy median between the shitshow of the Rant and the insanity of tide fans.

What would a typical response be to this post from a LSU fan on the Rant?
A. Melt, bitch
B. STTDB
C. RTWFU
D. All of the above

Rivals Soundoff board. It's a free and active open board for all fans. It's kind of like this board insofar as being pretty lenient but doesn't just allow anything. There is plenty of rival banter, but serious attacks aren't allowed for long till there is a warning to cut it out, then maybe a short suspension. Only the most egregious gets banned. Very reasonable moderators for the most part. In the off season there will be some off topic threads and that's tolerated. If you start an interesting football discussion, though, it will be very active.

If any of you sign up over there post on this board your username so we'll all know. I've been there 5 years and am not real active but may be moreso soon because my work schedule is slowing down. It's wayyy better than The Rant.

rivals soundoff

oh yeah, and a year or so ago a lot of new posters were having problems with their new account. Email the moderators and they'll fix it for you. Post back in this thread if you want to and I'll also bring it to their attention.

I'd also note that my intention isn't to direct activity away from this board. This is a good Alabama board, imo. The open board is just all trash talk, and has been for as long as I've been here. For at least a couple of years I have suggested once in a while an open board for actual discussion rather than trash talk. In spite of the fact there are more than 40 boards on this website, evidently a reasonable open board isn't going to happen.

Funny thing is that the LSU fans down here(live an hr north of BR) are cool.
It's like Twitter on the rant, super concentration of trolls.

To me, the real turning point of the Rant was Tua's hip injury. He's on his way to being airlifted to a hospital, yet countless tasteless posts were started.

It started with the beatdown Bama received from Clemson. It showed vulnerability and sparked 11 mos of dickriding and trolling until LSU was finally able to end the streak.

Then, it amped up with Tua's ankle injury and hope he'd miss the LSU game. The acceleration continued through the LSU win at Bama, to Tua's hip injury and the Barn win over Bama that alleviated fears of a CFP rematch.

Then their postseason award cleanup and success has only fanned the flames. It won't slow anytime soon.

The 2011 NCG loss and 8 game streak broke a lot of them. It is years' worth of frustrations being relieved. Until Bama beats them, it won't ease up.

More so, many of them still won't have the monkey off of their back until they get a win over Bama at home.

In all, it's sad. Most Bama fans were and are happy for LSU and Coach O. Great story. One of, if not, the greatest seasons ever. They should be proud and enjoying it. But, Bama is still right there on their minds, making a homecourt bball win over Bama a troll worthy thread for them.

They likely sustain success, but coming down off of an all time season will have them chasing the dragon to regain a high that cannot be repeated. So, lashing out to elicit those "melty, salty, sweet rival tears" is all they can focus on.

All that said, I still think there are far more rational, good LSU posters than trolls. It's just that the trolls post SOOOO much. Their board keeps them in check better than the SECRant. It is the troll safeplace.

it may have broken them but it didn't stop the Rant from being a trash talk board. It's been that the entire time I've been here. Nothing wrong with a trash talk board. Most websites that have a trash talk board, though, will also have a moderated open board for actual discussion.

@ no one in particular:

Is the rant even worth acknowledging or discussing? I completely forget that it exists until someone complains about it. It's not an integral part of this website or anything. It's more like the old freakshow portion of old-school circuses - just don't go in there if it's not for you. No one's making you click on the rant, and if that's true and it sucks, why not just...ignore it?

Would discussion of creating a new SEC sports board warrant a ban? I’m a developer and I’m fairly sure I could create something fairly comparable to this site, at least on a smaller scale anyway.

I know this board is great, and I enjoy all the Bama posters, but I’d like somewhere to have reasonable discussions with other SEC fans.

Not sure, but would be cool.

I'm all for having a board where folks just trash talk eachother, but it'd be nice to have a separate board that is kind of free of all that.
