I don't think Alex and Bediako are as ready to help as people think assuming we get Bediako.
I think by the time conference play comes they would be at least pretty good, may take them a while to get going.
We should have plenty of Size next year
Tchikou - 6'11
Wilson - 6'9
Rojas 6'8
KAH 6'8
Miles 6'7
Primo 6'6
Ellis 6'6
Gary 6'6
Holt 6'6
Then if we add Bediako he is 6'11.

I am hoping for the new and relatively unheard of center, Deontae Haul to show up on campus.

I think Tchikou is a Stud from Day 1.

wouldn't feel too good about Rojas having to play 15 or 20 minutes a game at the 5.
I like Rojas, He made the SEC Championship winning shot....but if Oats needs to make room he is obviously odd man out.

I wouldn't mind him sticking around, I think he has the potential to be a lot better than he has shown this year.
He could play the 5 if someone gets injured or we have foul trouble, and play the 4 sometimes, kind of the same role he has this year.
I agree.

Leon Douglass is one of the greatest players in the history of the program..pretty sure he's earned the right to text the Coach occasionally

We are #7 in NET.
13 Q1/Q2 wins.....I think that is the most in the country.
SOS is #9 on WarrenNolan, #23 in Kenpom.
Have only played 1 Q4 game all year

Probably safe to pencil us in as a 2 seed at this point. I don't think we will lose the 3 in a row we'd probably need to lose to drop and I think the committee is going to give 2 B1G teams a 1 seed come hell or high water. Conference losses simply are not held against B1G teams.

You may be right but Oats seems to like the minutes he gives or he wouldn’t run him out there ... I could see KAH leaving with the lack of time he gets . I know he is a freshman and needs strength but sometimes these kids don’t look at PT that way . If Bediako or a grad transfer is available then all bets are off

I have an uncle who played on Alabama teams that just missed an SEC title and a great uncle who played on that 1956 SEC championship team.
My uncle played on a couple of very good Alabama basketball teams in the early 70s but graduated in 1973 just prior to the 1974 thru 1976 championship run.
Edit: After seeing some of the comments about Leon Douglas, just wanted to point out that I doubt Leon is "bothering" Coach Oates with his texts. That's not his personality. Leon was one of my uncle's college teammates and one of his favorite people. He's just a very nice, all around good guy who also happened to be a helluva basketball player.

That could just as easily be a product of having no other reliable option, a la Davis and Smith last year.
I think Rojas sticks around, and after a full year of recovering from his injury comes back and plays at a much higher level.

I just don't see it. You might be able to bully players down low in juco, as a 6'5" PF with a 4" vertical leap, but it's not going to work in the SEC. I think he could shoot better than he has this year, but I don't think he has the talent or skill set to compete at this level.

Could be but losing Reese and Jones this year with Alex T coming off an injury and KAH seemingly not ready, I think he will come back unless he sees more opportunities somewhere else

The only question I have about Tchikou (besides the fact that we’ve never seen him play a competitive college basketball game) is by all reports he had basically the worst injury you can have as a basketball player.
Usually people can come back from that after 12 months but the common wisdom is you’re not really fully back to normal for a while after that.
Durant seems basically back to normal (I guess - I haven’t seen them play a ton), but a) he’s a freak of nature that could score 30 a game even at 80-90%, and b) he ruptured his Achilles in June of 2019 and didn’t have to come back till December 2020.
Tchikou is the #1 guy that I’m interested in hearing practice reports about next season. Maybe he’s ahead of schedule, or maybe it wasn’t as bad a tear as some other people have had (to be clear, I don’t know if that’s even a thing).

It sounds obvious to say, but I think you're exactly right.
I have no stats to back this up, but just anecdotally, I've noticed when we come out and make difficult shots in the paint, we tend to do well, and when we don't (like on Saturday), we struggle.
Everyone likes to focus on the threes, but I swear it seems like our worst performances have more to do with missed shots around the basket.
