He doesn’t get a lot of opportunities on offense either. I mean Bruner averages what 7 points a game ??

Rojas was like 205 or something when he arrived on campus, so he has definitely transformed from a wing body to an undersized power forward body. I think the difference in FT numbers can probably be written off as a small sample size, but the huge difference in 3pt% could certainly be caused by an extra 30 pounds throwing his mechanics off.

One thing that may be overlooked is that players often use an injury year to bulk up.

I'm not sure what size Rojas was when he got to Bama, but he missed all last season with the torn ACL and may have committed to adding bulk and getting stronger to be able to bang with SEC bigs on his return to the detriment of his shooting ability.

Hmm... Now that I have gone down the rabbit hole, I think I might actually be on to something...

Illinois is gonna get another probable loss vs Michigan tomorrow night. If they beat Michigan they deserve to be a one seed.

Rojas also had a bad wrist/hand injury he has been playing through all season which probably explains why is hasn't been shooting great. Oats has mentioned it several times.

If Illinois drops their game to Michigan and we beat Auburn, we will probably slip into the last #1 seed.

Illinois and OSU play each other Saturday. That might throw the winner back into that last #1. A win Saturday against Georgia on the road probably won't help us much.

I think Rojas transfers, but if he doesn't, I'd love for him to prove me wrong and have a great year next year.

As far as the team, I hope now that the SEC monkey is off their back, they relax and play better. Hopefully we're about to get hot again at the perfect time.

- Illinois has Michigan and OSU left - we need them to lose both and then not win the B1G Tournament.

- We need Ohio State to beat Illinois and then lose before the B1G Title Game

- We need to Iowa to lose before the B1G Title Game

If all 3 of those things happen and we win out, we'd have a shot. But the problem is the odds of one of OSU, Illinois and Iowa winning the B1G Tournament are pretty decent, and if that happens that team is getting the last #1 seed. Not to mention, we need to win out (including the SECT). To be honest I don't think it's even really worth thinking about. Getting a #2 seed would be fantastic and basically no different than a #1.

At this point the most important thing is playing good basketball going into the tournament.

Rojas need to go back to the high top fade. Looks way cooler than what he has now imo.

I haven't really understood the negative comments in this thread towards the B1G. It's easily the best conference in basketball this season, though it is maybe a bit top heavy. Still, when it's top heavy with 4 teams, that is saying something for the conference. I think Michigan has a #1 seed wrapped up, and the other 3 all have a legitimate shot at getting a #1 seed.

Playing better is certainly the top priority but getting that #1 and the publicity that comes with that is marketing gold for the program and in recruiting.

Not to mention, not having to play a Gonzaga, Michigan or Baylor to get to the Final Four.

But as you've said, if we don't get it together and start playing better overall, it won't matter.

Michigan is right there with Gonzaga IMHO. They are fantastic.

Iowa, Illinois and Ohio State are all very good teams, but I don't quite understand why they are locked in as the 4th #1 seed. Ohio State and Iowa are great offensively but are both outside the Top 50 defensively. They are very much flawed teams - very good teams, but flawed.

I'll throw a wrench into this whole thing - what if Baylor loses 2 of 3 or the next 3 and then early in the BXII tournament? Because they do not look like the same team right now after Iowa State and Kansas. At all.

Their next 3 games
- @ West Virginia
- Oklahoma State
- Texas Tech

Very small sample size, obviously, but it gives a picture of what Baylor has put on the floor since they got back from COVID.

Baylor ranks since 2/22 COVID Return
- #131 Overall (#10 out of 10 BXII)
- #97 Offense (#6 out of 10)
- #182 Defense (#10 out of 10)

Baylor is 18-1 ---- 10 of those 18 wins are Q3/4 wins. 6 of those 18 wins are Q4 wins.

If Baylor finishes the season 2-4 or something? I could definitely see them dropping of the 1-line.

I think they will allow them the Covid pause excuse and their overall record would possibly still be better than most others vying for the #1 seed.

Illinois might beat them out if they keep winning though with only 4 losses. Don't think OSU or Iowa would jump them.

For some reason, it seams like the Q3/Q4 games only matter if it's a loss.

Im not a picky person. All I want is for LSU, Ole Miss, Kentucky, and Mississippi State on our side of the SEC Bracket as the 4, 5, 8, and 9 seeds. Is that really asking too much?

Agreed. A month ago everyone was salivating at a Gonzaga-Baylor matchup, and since then Michigan has replaced Baylor, IMO.

I don't think there's necessarily one #1 seed they all vying for. I do one of the 3 could easily play themselves into a #1. I don't know what the rest of the B1G schedule looks like, but Illinois would be my pick to emerge from that 3. And if Baylor continues to stumble, it could potentially open up a second #1 seed.
