Good to see that we seem to have gotten out of our offensive funk.

If you guys haven't seen Oats last press conference where he talks about the 10 4 minute games and how he uses stats during the game, please do.
This guy is a numbers nerd. It was facinating how he reeled off all the numbers in describing what happened against ga.
He's even got the media doing it. Funny as hell. You can tell Cecil is enjoying the heck out of this guy.

Anybody heard anything further about Gary? He was seeming to come along strong right before his injury. He's a guy who could be important down the stretch.
Also, anybody heard anything on KAH? His minutes lately suggest he's in the doghouse.

This is the last update I saw (from Feb 12th). Coach Oats wasn’t asked about it in the Georgia post-game press conference that I recall. There will probably be another update this week
Alabama Basketball's Juwan Gary Now Expected to Miss Multiple Games with Shoulder Injury
While initially reported that Gary would be sitting out Saturday against Georgia, coach Nate Oats clarified that the redshirt-freshman forward will be out for multiple games.

KAH isnt in the doghouse, you just cant play everybody. He plays in garbage time still.

If its a separated shoulder like I heard, the recovery time is anywhere between two weeks and two months. They probably dont know exactly how long he will miss yet.

He isn’t in the doghouse, he is a freshman. Everytime Oats gives him and Miles meaningful minutes they make mistakes and get taken out. Both are gonna end up being great players they just gotta earn Oats trust to not make mental mistakes out there.

You have to remember that Oats is a former HS math teacher, so “numbers” are his thing!!

In other words... Think of all of the really bad, really dumb turnovers you've been seeing the last few weeks, and imagine someone who does it do often, they can't be trusted on the court.
One thing to consider with our style, it's not big friendly. It will probably take many big guys a year or two to adjust playing at that tempo on a highly competitive level.

With Bruner and Gary both, worst comes to worst, we don't have to have them back until the NCAA tournament.
If Herb got gimpy again and we win the SEC I'd sit him in the SEC Tournament. The good thing about this year vs past years is we are not a bubble team pretty much no matter what at this point.

I hope everyone takes time to appreciate this season. It’s been a long time coming

And stay out of the Baseball thread! You filthy animal.

Depends on how gimpy, what the injury was and if sitting would help him heal significantly more than not sitting. I don't think we can sit Herb and win games. I really want to win the SEC Tournament this year and we have the squad that can do it. I really don't like the idea of treating the SEC Tournament as unimportant - much rather use it as a launching board to get hot at the right time.

From what little I've seen of KAH, it seems his issues are more on the defensive end. But it's really hard to accurately assess since he's seen so little action.

From the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:
Tipsheet: Several NCAA tourney hopefuls took hits last week
Scott Gleeson, USA Today: “The Crimson Tide (17-5, 12-1) had its offense firing on all cylinders in a 115-82 victory over Georgia. It's not inconceivable that Alabama could be in contention for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, and the more coach Nate Oats' group takes care of business the closer it drifts towards being a top seed candidate should any of the current No. 1s stumble. There's something to be said for being in first place in the SEC, the country's second toughest conference according to the NET.”

The Miles story gives me so much confidence equity in Oats/Hodgeson’s recruiting and ability to identify good fits.
For those of you that don’t know the story on how we picked up Miles, Hodgson went down to IMG Academy to see Moussa Diabate (2021 5-star C, Michigan commit) on IMG’s premier team, and Miles caught his eye when he was there, so he stuck around to evaluate Miles and called CNO and told him “you’re need to see this kid Miles, I think we want to offer him.”
He is a lot like freshman Shackelford - lefty with a smooth, lethal 3-ball, never saw an open shot he didn’t like, but suspect on the defensive end.
But Miles is 6’7” instead of 6’3” and much more explosive, judging by Saturday’s dunk.
If he develops defensively, he is going to be a stud. He is never going to be a Herb level defender, but I think he could be a Petty level defender, which is still pretty darn good.
Here is his points per 40 and have they stack up with the rest of the team.
1. Miles - 26.9
2. Quinerly - 19.8
3. Shack - 18.9
4. Herb - 17.8
5. Petty - 17.2
