SEC Calls LSU Expulsion A 'Very Real Threat' In Latest Federal Court Filing

The SEC's legal battle with LSU is far from over.

In a new federal court filing Tuesday, the conference called LSU's potential expulsion a "very real threat" and argued that its lawsuit against the university should not be dismissed, according to Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger.

LSU filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit on September 25, arguing that the dispute was no longer relevant after the football program decided not to include former professional players Dae'Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris on its final roster.

However, the SEC claims the issue goes beyond those two players and involves LSU's continued willingness to challenge conference eligibility rules.

The latest filing also points to LSU men's basketball coach Will Wade and the program's recruitment of former St. John's guard RJ Luis Jr., who signed an NBA G League contract.

The SEC cited Wade's previous comments about the program's approach to building its roster:

"We're going to be unapologetic about it. This is who we are. This is what we're doing. This is the path we charted. We're going to go down it, and that's fine."

However, Wade made it clear Tuesday that LSU intends to follow the SEC's rules regarding Luis, who has not been added to the team's roster.

"We're going to follow all the SEC protocols with him," Wade said. "I think it's been pretty clear what the SEC protocols are on all that. He didn't travel with us to McNeese, and he hasn't been rostered."

The conference maintains that LSU's decision to leave Wright and Harris off its football roster does not resolve the larger dispute or eliminate the possibility of removing the school from the SEC.

There have also reportedly been discussions between LSU and the conference about reaching a mutual resolution to end the legal battle.

LSU isn’t in a battle with the SEC. It is athletes that are suing. The SEC brought this crap on themselves and will be rolling in it when it is all said and done.

That's not what the article says.

Can we file a defamation lawsuit?
user avatar
Sankey is a cock sucker and the SEC can frick OFF.

The lawsuit was a stupid thing to do at the outset and it has remained a stupid thing. Nevertheless, Sandy has to say something at this point to make the lawsuit sound viable and prevent it from being dismissed. His performance in all of this has been embarrassing and incompetent. It's time for the Federal court to dismiss the lawsuit.

Sankey has influenced officiating in football for LSU. He’ll go after all the sports. LSU has to sue him for damages. LSU has to as part of the settlement ask for Sankey’s ouster.

A threat with no legs. He’s a legend in his own mind. Everyone’s moved on but clown Stankey

Too bad we couldn't convince Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Arkansas to move back to the Big 12.

I’d bet Arkansas and TAMU would
consider it! Oklahomo will go or stay with UT!
