The SEC's legal battle with LSU is far from over.

In a new federal court filing Tuesday, the conference called LSU's potential expulsion a "very real threat" and argued that its lawsuit against the university should not be dismissed, according to Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger.

LSU filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit on September 25, arguing that the dispute was no longer relevant after the football program decided not to include former professional players Dae'Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris on its final roster.

However, the SEC claims the issue goes beyond those two players and involves LSU's continued willingness to challenge conference eligibility rules.

The latest filing also points to LSU men's basketball coach Will Wade and the program's recruitment of former St. John's guard RJ Luis Jr., who signed an NBA G League contract.

The SEC cited Wade's previous comments about the program's approach to building its roster:

"We're going to be unapologetic about it. This is who we are. This is what we're doing. This is the path we charted. We're going to go down it, and that's fine."

However, Wade made it clear Tuesday that LSU intends to follow the SEC's rules regarding Luis, who has not been added to the team's roster.

"We're going to follow all the SEC protocols with him," Wade said. "I think it's been pretty clear what the SEC protocols are on all that. He didn't travel with us to McNeese, and he hasn't been rostered."

The conference maintains that LSU's decision to leave Wright and Harris off its football roster does not resolve the larger dispute or eliminate the possibility of removing the school from the SEC.

There have also reportedly been discussions between LSU and the conference about reaching a mutual resolution to end the legal battle.

This is insanity on steroids. I'm beginning to wonder if Sankey has some mental issues.

Lane will bend Sankey over and give him a thorough rogering with his chainsaw gorilla dick. LSU will kick Sankey out because his only use in life is as a reservoir of monkey pox.

I'd much rather see Texas expelled.

All LSU needs to do from henceforth is annihilate every time on the schedule in every sport. That perhaps would be reason for expulsion.

Good. They are the bratty children of the family.

The judge in Baton Rouge really needs to over turn his injunction and say the players aren’t eligible. That’s what the judge did with Bediako. As of now LSU can still roster the players should they decide to do so. 2nd, the players are suing because they were told they would be put on the team so come to Baton Rouge and then Lane did an about face and didn’t roster them. I knew that was gonna be an issue.

F the SEC, but, the "very real threat" mentioned in the filing is not about the expulsion, its about Murrill, Landry, and the other defendants interfering with the Conference's right to terminate LSU.

I say it’s time to end this. AG, Jeff, and every other lawyer involved needs to go scorched earth on Sankey personally and the conf. Players who were targeted for selective enforcement file their civil suits, crush him financially, force him to resign.

Perhaps if the SEC doesn't win the Natty this year, he should be fired--just like at least half of the coaches in the SEC have been.

There’s a very real threat this clown gets fired over this nonsense that has no merit. I don’t understand and am completely baffled. If he’ll try this at LSU he’ll try it on other schools, we need the sec schools back on this BS. We are a huge piece of the puzzle that makes the SEC fun.
