LSU landed at No. 4 in USA TODAY's initial preseason rankings after winning the National Champions but dropped down No. 9 in the USA TODAY post-spring Top 25:
quote:

9. LSU
The defending national champions have lost more star power than any team in the country, including star quarterback Joe Burrow and the national assistant coach of the year in Joe Brady. Ed Orgeron is back, along with enough talent to keep LSU on track for a New Year's Six bowl. Repeating seems like a stretch.
Top 10:
1. Clemson
2. Ohio State
3. Georgia
4. Oregon
5. Alabama
6. Oklahoma
7. Florida
8. Penn State
9. LSU
10. Notre Dame

Might not even have a season. Also, we are the champions until someone else wins the next Natty.

Georgia is starting to remind me of the Les Miles LSU teams. They have too 5 talent but underperform year after year.

Im a realist and am ok with a slide till we play and prove one way or the other but Oregon, Penn St, Florida... Some people try to hard to make waves

Clemson OhioSt and Florida are the only teams returning a starter at QB. That list is shite

It is. Bama is not even sure who their QB is. Frohm is gone from a UGA team that cannot score. Oregon is Oregon. It is a joke.

If there is no 2020 season I am claiming the 2020 national championship as well. We were the best team to play games in 2020. Easy wins.

You're gonna have to fight Bama for it. They've already got their paperwork going to claim the next championship. The Dothan Eagle newspaper has already declared them National Champions.

My too early to predict prediction is LSU goes 11-1 in the regular season with a loss away to UF. We get revenge in the SEC Championship game on our way to defend the the National Championship in the CFB playoffs.

Man, that would be a nasty, nasty SEC title game.

That is stupid. I can see why we would not be top 4, but they put UGA, who lost their QB, Oregon, who is well Oregon, Penn State who cannot get past OSU and OU, who just lost Jalen Hurts above us? I am not sure how much research these so called experts do. Anyone who puts some time into can tell our D will be sick. They all say we will take a step back without Burrow, wow what insight. If Myles is even a good QB (he does not have to be great or be Burrow), this is an 11 win playoff team.

Brennan will surprise a lot of folks this year. He’s going to be a really good qb.

Lots of this is based upon quality of recruits. But if they don't get a spring [they won't] and maybe questionable summer practices / focus, how are the Oregon's and Georgia's of the list going to pull all of that talent together into synergized results?

We just won the national championship. LSU is on everyone's radar. We are the circled game.

They learned their lesson from Auburn's one-and-done season. Only Bama can sustain success in the SEC.

Because they have done so well the last couple of years. The gumps are done being the bully. Florida, LSU. Auburn and Georgia could all beat the gumps this year

We were around 6 and Texas was 10 last year. How’d that turn out?

Well UGA should be up there. George Pickens is the 2nd or 3/4 best WR in the SEC and top 5/6 in the country, Burton will possibly start somewhere as a true freshman too, and they got that 5 stat TE. The QB from Wake provides them an immediate playmaker with experience. Monken knows offense so they won't be stale again and you know the treasure chest of RBs they always have. Defense didn't lose much but gathered experience. Honestly, if they don't win the championship this year, I don't know when the next time they will have as good a chance.

Anybody that would rank Oregon and ND in the top ten should stick to covering cooking shows because they don’t know a damn thing about football

LSU at #9 is as ridiculous as Georgia at #3…
