who came up with driving is a privilege thing, we pay taxes for roads, we have a right for those roads, who owns the interstate system, we do if we are citizens, it should be a right to travel the roads not a privilege

Probably the smart folks that came up with capitalization and punctuation.
Brett lives about 5 minutes from me. That property is well kept and the frontage area of the property along 98 probably cost more than most of our homes on here. It's pretty impressive. We are certainly not rural either. In fact, I wish we were further away from Hattiesburg. Seems Brett and I are getting out of here....we're gone next year. Headed south.

Side note, years ago (early-mid 1990s) Brett and I almost got in a fight in the Varsity in Baton Rouge. We were both drunk and his dumbass ran into me as he was coming down the stairs and I was headed up. We exchanged words but he thought better of it. He's not very big and I was pretty stout at that point. Probably would have been a good fight.

Why do you think Trump took all countries to task at once. So chini cant set up shop in other countries and bypass the tariffs like they did with steel to canada.

 So, you don't think China companies are moving manufacturing to other countries? This has to be a joke. You're naive.

You might want to ask Anheuser-Busch how losing their consumer base worked out for them.

What are you talking about? All manufacturers pass on their cost increases to the consumer. Hopefully, you don't believe otherwise. Anheuser Busch wasn't a price increase issue. Pay attention to what this conversation pertains to regarding tariffs.
quote:

Short term = some prices increased offset by tax cuts.

Any tax cuts won’t fully cover the current tariff percentages on products from China. Products prices will jump 25% minimum….probably more.

quote:

Long term = equals more jobs and more competition within the ecosystem and thus prices drop.

Those jobs and competition won’t be located in the US for products made in China. Other countries will undercut US manufacturing costs just as China has.

We don’t win. We get price increases from China or another country that can’t manufacture as the same low costs. Anyone thinking our costs as consumers will come down at some point is foolish. Never happens…still waiting on those post-COVID prices to drop.

quote:

Therefore, I will absorb it short term

Exactly as I said…you do not want this to go LONG term. You obviously didn’t read my previous post as I told you. This must stay short term.
quote:

Are you scared or something??

Scared? Are you a 5 year old kid? I’m an adult that likes to keep the majority of my income not pass it on to product price increases.

quote:

BTW... China just rolled back tariffs.

BTW…see my previous post regarding a deal within days. I’m way ahead of you. More to come.
quote:

The customer has the power.

This is not always the case and certainly not the case here. This is not a one to one negotiation at a furniture store. Since the customer has the power, explain to us what the US based manufacturers (Chinese customers) are doing to replace the Chinese components used in their products when no one else makes them? I can assure you the US based manufacturer is getting nailed and passing their hefty cost increases to you....Mr. Customer. How does the power feel? We better hope this trade war isn't long-term with China. We have not even started to feel the higher cost of products. Those are on boats headed this way....watch for big price jumps within 30 days.
They're not negotiating because a deal is probably already done. Words folks. Deal coming in a matter of days....just watch. 10-15%

Simple fix, no more shite coming from CHINA

Not really. No one else is making the stuff they make that we use to make our stuff and won’t be any time soon. So, full collapse of what little manufacturing we have? The cost of products is about to skyrocket. You’re not going to like it nor will it go away anytime soon without a deal with China. They need us but we definitely need them while we build a better manufacturing base here. That will take decades. Also, anything we build here will be super expensive comparatively. Other countries will take business from China but they will also need to build plants. China will just open plants in those countries and run the plants from China. This trade war with China needs to be a short term. I’d imagine a deal is cut within the next couple of weeks….probably already has happened. ;)
Nah…we love music. We especially love live music. I’ve seen several thousand bands. My wife has seen several hundred. I’ve seen everyone from the Sex Pistols, BB King, The Cure, James Brown, Hall and Oates, the Cult, Bad Brains and everything in between. Many of them I’ve seen a lot of times. I’ve seen super obscure bands such as the Bears. I have witnessed my share of shitty shows, too. The Smashing Pumpkins suck live. Heart rocks live. John Cougar sucks live. Duran Duran is spectacular live as is Muse. Depeche Mode is always great. At one point in my life I was seeing several shows a week and hundreds per year. Most were free entry for me. There’s nothing better than music and nothing better than a great live show. And yes, ticket prices have gotten pretty steep. Just paid over $900 for two NIN tickets. However, bands such as the Reverend Horton Heat can still be seen for less than $30. Both are great live.

I’ll take live music over live sports every day (love both though.) We’ll have music on at our house instead of crappy all day news stations but that’s our preference and how we approach life. Choose your own path.

ETA…another band that is really really good live is the FIXX. They’re still rocking the scene. If you get the chance to catch them touring, go see them. Inexpensive fantastic show. DO NOT go see Men at Work….horrible live show.

And this is exactly why you don't see Chinese cars in countries that are their allies such ad Russia

Is it? I’m 100% positive you’re wrong. The ONLY reason you don’t see a massive amount of Chinese vehicles in other countries is a lack of support for the vehicles. There are no dealerships to support the products after the sale. That is the number one reason. Otherwise, the Chinese would crush every other automaker. Contrary to the false beliefs of those on this site, their vehicles are extremely nice now and pass the same rigorous safety tests as those in Europe.

They are not built by slave labor (there are some real idiots on this site.) Their manufacturing plants don’t waste time and money on Union workers either which is a huge savings. Everything is robotic which minimizes mistakes and increases quality.

These misconceptions of China is why the USA continues to lag behind them in manufacturing growth. China is way more advanced than people believe. The same misconceptions that allowed Japan to advance in the USA. Yep, their cars sucked and then they changed their quality. Welcome to modern day China. Personally, I’m tired of being ripped off by “American” automakers building in Mexico because they owe all of their retiring Union workers full salaries till they die…and the quality sucks now.

Watch this guy learn about Chinese vehicles.

There is a correlation between taking statins and Alzheimer’s disease.

LOL…there’s a correlation between high cholesterol and Alzheimer’s for sure.

Statins are drugs that are used to reduce the levels of cholesterol in the blood. Many people also take statins to reduce their risk of heart attacks and strokes. There have been many studies that have looked to see if this appears to alter the risk of dementia compared to people with untreated high cholesterol. Analysis combining 36 studies showed that statins reduced the risk of developing dementia by about 20%.

Looking at specific diseases, statins reduced the risk of Alzheimer’s disease by about 30% and reduced the risk of vascular dementia by about 7%.

Statins lower cholesterol not eliminate it.

Hey folks -- found the intern / nurse / doctor / pharm rep who is vaxxed and triple boosted. And who is still fooled by "The $cience," Big Pharm, muh-Radiology Reports, $urgeons, and the Ho$pitals that can't wait to remove body part$ and were injecting anything that moved while taking the $36k for each reported "Covid Death". Nearly everything "healthy" we've been told by these frauds is inverted. 2020-2021 proved who and what they are. Maybe you should look into "Rockefeller Medicine" and its agenda, and wake up to reality before Booster #4.

Nope…I’m an unvaxxed HVAC guy that’s unafraid of doctors. Nice try though moron. Your posts tells me everything I need to know about you. Stand up straight on that soapbox baw! Shout it to the sky! Next you’ll be complaining about your insurance not covering you for your new found medical condition that could have been prevented with regular doctor visits. I know guys like you. I had a friend die young from colon cancer. Totally preventable BUT THEM DAMN DOCTOR$ as you say. Wouldn’t go to the doctor because, well, you know…doctors is bad man. Keep screaming baw…keep screaming it!

Some things are just better suited for cash. I cannot stand how everything has to be card swipe these days.

They did take cash for parking.

“Please note that Rock The Country is a cashless event. Vendors will only take card. Credit card payments will be accepted, in addition to Tap to Pay with Apple and Google Pay. While cash is not accepted inside the venue, cash will still be accepted for day of show parking purchases.”

Seems maybe the complaint was the folks actually using a card for parking which caused the backup?

Anybody still trust Big Pharm? Anybody still trust Hospitals & the Med industry? Anybody still trust "studies"? Anybody still kneel before "The Science"? The "Covid" and (not a) Vax debacle of 2020-2021 has managed to expose and demolish all trust in the entire fraudulent Rockefeller Medicine Complex for thinking people.

Found the guy that will die early because he doesn’t trust the medical folks. Won’t get a colonoscopy, won’t get a yearly physical, won’t get his broken down back examined, and on and on. If alive, he’ll be the guy hobbling around the office in his 60’s hating on the medical folks….even though he never visits them. Just their existence puts him in pain.

It’s cause there’s more people driving now than ever with the same amount of roads from when there wasn’t as many drivers.

That's certainly part of the problem. Keeping adding to the equation. You'll catch on soon.
quote:

Wrong. One vehicle delivers multiple packages. If each of those households did not have delivery they would have to get in their vehicles and drive to the store to purchase the item. That would increase traffic.

Actually, I'm correct. Your single item purchase creates a delivery that wasn't on the road before. In the past, when you went to the store you'd buy multiple items on one trip...not just one item. However, you haven't stopped going to the local stores either. I still go to the store. I buy things online that I can't get locally or I find it less expensive....or just something I didn't need in the first place. But, we still go to local stores.
