New LSU offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. spoke with the local Baton Rouge media for the first time Friday since joining the program this offseason.

Right off the bat, Weis was asked if he seriously considered staying at Ole Miss following the Rebels' playoff run. Weis chose not to get into the details of the "saga," saying his focus is now entirely on LSU.
quote:

"Right now, I'm just so focused on being here," Weis responded. "That whole saga and everything that went down feels like it put about ten years on my wife."

"I'm so happy to be here now, fired up. I love our players. It's been a great group to work with. That's the main focus right now."
Weis did, however, explain what ultimately led him to follow Lane Kiffin to LSU:
quote:

"No. 1, Coach Kiffin. He believed in me at an early age, probably when a lot of people wouldn't take a chance on a young coach, and he did. I owe him a lot for my career. And the places he has hired me. That's definitely the No. 1 factor.

"And then LSU, it's a dream place to be. Growing up, watching college football... Being at Alabama when I had my first job there with Coach Kiffin, playing at LSU at night.

"I think this environment is the coolest place in all of sports to play in. Just the thought of playing here and this is our home crowd, it gave me chills."
Chill, indeed.

Pete Golding failing has to be the most obvious thing ever, right? I mean he was handed the keys to a podium level car in the 3rd turn of the last lap. Nothing he did was any credit of his own. Saban couldn't wait to kick him to the curb. The reality check for Ole Miss will be a thing of beauty.

I agree 100% , I’m going to enjoy downward spiral of ole miss after all the shite talking .

Saban wanted Petey gone, but Lane hired him as DC. That’s a little odd

Ole Miss made a huge mistake by not making Charlie their HC and keeping Pete as DC. That was the only way they could have kept both. Pete never had a chance to go to LSU, so there was no reason to make him the HC, which he did not even really strive for. Glad we have Charlie instead.
