Former LSU ace Kade Anderson made his highly anticipated MLB debut with the Seattle Mariners on Saturday night against the Chicago Cubs.
Anderson pitched 5 innings, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out five. The 22-year-old left-hander was impressive through the first five innings before running into trouble in the sixth, when the Cubs hit back-to-back home runs.
Seattle eventually rallied for a 5-4 walk-off victory in the ninth inning, getting Anderson off the hook for the loss.
The Mariners selected Anderson with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft after he helped lead LSU to the College World Series championship. He dominated Double-A this season with a 10-1 record, 1.06 ERA and 135 strikeouts over 93 innings before getting called up directly to the majors.
