The Cleveland Browns are waiving tight end Dae’Quan Wright, who could now be on his way to LSU for the 2026 season.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Wright has an agreement in place to play for the Tigers if he clears NFL waivers. The former Ole Miss tight end entered the NCAA transfer portal last week after a court ruling opened the door for him to receive a fifth year of college eligibility.

Wright played the last two seasons at Ole Miss under Lane Kiffin before going undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft. He signed with the Philadelphia Eagles before being claimed by Cleveland earlier this month. Wright caught 39 passes for 635 yards and five touchdowns last season at Ole Miss.

If Wright clears waivers and ultimately suits up for LSU, he is believed to be the first player to spend time with an NFL team and then return to play college football.

Yeah. LSU led the CFB world in NFL prospects opting out of bowl games and set that precedent with Fournette. Now let us contribute to continually blur the lines between pro and college.

Or we don't evolve and get left behind. Great mindset.

It’s not bitching at LSU but the environment. No school ever should have this. The rule in all sports ever has been that once you sign a pro contract you lost college eligibility. That wall is eroding to the detriment of the sport. Great showcase that you don’t understand WTF is happening but you still want to comment on it.

Brown's coach Todd Monken: "Man, isn’t this s–t crazy?" "I don’t even know what to say. As far as I know, he’s had a medical issue that wasn’t allowing him to practice. That’s a medical issue. It has nothing to do with me. He was cleared, so we dressed him just in case we had to have him." "I don’t know what to say. I wondered why Lane Kiffin reached out to me a week ago, now I know. I didn’t call him back. I guess I should have."
