re: Do people react irrationally when gas prices rise?

I addressed that in the OP
No. You blew it off in the OP by a fleeting mention and argued for three paragraphs about a tank of gas. Every $0.01 rise in gas prices per gallon reduces consumer spending in the U.S. by about $1.5 billion. That means the rise of about $1.00 in a gallon of gas costs the U.S. economy about $150 billion per year. That is about .5% of expected U.S. economic output for 2026.Not substantial, but not insignificant.

Ah yes. The person who spends almost zero on gas per year arguing the concerns about rising price of gas is irrational.

You cannot POSSIBLY think the only impact gas prices have for a person is the amount they spend on a tank of gas. It has a direct impact on energy bills, food, clothing, and just about everything else you pay for.
I’d be shocked if you were not complaining about gas prices and inflation during the last administration.
Gas prices fluctuate. It is a part of life. But the people that rationalized higher prices four years ago are complaining about them now. And the people complaining four years ago are rationalizing them now. It is comical how people’s opinions completely change on the exact topic depending on who is in office.

Humans have poor memories that tends to make things up. Who would have ever guessed? Exactly why eye witnesses are remarkably unreliable

Smoking has made a major comeback with college kids. It has been very surprising to see.

Definitely a southern thing. Usually done by people who complain about beggars at gas stations and street corners, but the concepts are identical as a practical matter.

That's a trust issue (or lack thereof) that will wreck what is supposed to be the deepest, most sincere, and most sacred relationship on this earth.
If you have to share a bank account with your spouse that is a serious trust issue. Imagine marrying a person and not even trusting them enough to have their own bank account. You probably insist on being able to track their every movement on their IPhone, too. Psycho level lack of trust.
Spouses who insist on these are usually control freaks and try to pin their psycho level lack of trust off as being completely trusting.
Why would you marry someone you cannot even trust to have her own bank account without you monitoring her spending?

And equal number of women let themselves go after marriage. A man that gains weight will still age much better than a woman that gains weight. It has nothing to do with taking care of themselves, it is just nature/luck. Nature versus nurture, nature always wins.

re: All you poor ignoramuses whining about the cost of gas...

My biggest issue with gas prices are the hypocrisy. The same people who were ripping Biden for high gas prices five years ago are now defending high gas prices. The people who were saying high gas prices were not a major issue when Biden was president are now all up in arms about gas prices under Trump.

Inspection stickers are a scam. More of a hassle than anything else, but also revenue generators. Three bordering states, Arky, MS and TX do not require them for non-commercial vehicles.

In 20-25 years, these current times will be the good ole days.
Zero chance I would be able to live in an electronic free zone. It would be healthier, but my work will never allow me that opportunity. I doubt I will ever retire, but if I do I may consider it. Still unlikely.
