Multiple sources have reported this week that five-star defensive lineman Jahkeem Stewart is trending toward Southern Cal.

The 6-6, 270-pound pass rusher from New Orleans was originally a class of 2026 prospect but reclassified to 2025 in October and transferred from St. Augustine to Edna Karr.

Stewart is the No. 1 player in Louisiana and a major target for the LSU coaching staff. He previously had the Tigers, USC, Ohio State, and Oregon as his top schools.

Stay tuned as the early signing period approaches on December 4.

We are also on the verge of losing the #1 player in the state for 2026. Isn’t that like 4 out of 5 years that has happened?

2023 is the only time since 2020 that we missed on the #1 player in Louisiana. That was Arch Manning who was never going to LSU.

Ya know, every time there's talk about USC or UCLA my mind is going to the Midwest now. Like that intro they do with all the Big 10 schools and they're going over the terrain and their logos & stuff are popping up like the Game of Thrones intro.

I'm thinking that they've moved the damn campuses and are now in Ohio or Indiana...hahaha, and they ain't still all the way over there to the left. It's weird as hell...haha.

Man if we lose this kid as bad as we need DL in our own backyard and with the $$ we saved from Underwood then we have a real fricking problem. Hopefully Frank Wilson can come through but he needs a nice sized check to do his job.

He has played in 11 high school games, skipped out on his Junior & Senior year, wants a bag. Everything screams red flag!

Tell him to ask Ishmael Sopsher how this decision went.

I've been trying to remember that guy's name for years. What a dipshit. Thanks.

DL are a risk. DL who haven’t played in two years and reclass to be a 17 senior are a huge risk.

Hasn't only played one year of High School football?

Some kids just want to leave home.

And to go all the way out to California says it in this case.

Uhh no brother. I can 100% guarantee you it’s $$$ is the only reason he’s potentially going to a dumpster fire like USC. Heck it would make way more sense to go to Oregon if not LSU. It’s obvious that championships mean absolutely nothing to that kid.
user avatar

But if he wanted to leave home, get high $$$, "and championships aren't important", then going to some place like California would make sense no?

These guys never seem to pan out.

He'll be in the spring portal in 2026 and mid-major by 2027.

NIL will be LSU losing bidding wars for top instate talent.to: OR, USC, A&M , OH ST , BAMA and the list goes on and on. Need a Billionaire to set up for LSU lol.

Brian Kelly won’t be winning a championship. LSU is done winning championships until something is done about NIL.

Brian Kelly is in over his head coaching in the SEC to begin with, but the NIL just further stops anything LSU is trying to do.

I don’t think it’s dumb to say LSU won’t win a title with the current NIL setup.

And some people live in a dream land when reality is looking them square in the face. LSU is getting its butt kicked with this NIL stuff. Face reality!

I had a feeling back in 2021 when NIL was announced that USC, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio St, Texas, Texas A&M, Florida, quasi Georgia would dominate again as they have the most rich alumni at reputable football schools. Schools like LSU, Bama, Auburn, Clemson can't compete. We don't have the money.

Yes, we do. The LSU NIL budget is $18,000,000 this year. They are just not going to pay some HS kid $2,000,000. Does that sound reasonable to you?

Of course. But if other teams are willing then it’s kinda doubtful we win many of those battles…does that seem reasonable to you?

What happens to the true NFL talent when they get into year two at these programs seeing they arent getting the coaching needed for NFL round 1-3 money. Oh shite thats right BK just git called out on MSN by Charles Turner as being that lack luster coach. So real question is how does this change with profit sharing?
user avatar
I thought we had a stud dline coach and a need at dline.

If USC wants to pay a HS kid who played 10 games $2,000,000, let them.

Kid has played a total of one season of high school football and is asking for $2mm a year. Figure it out
user avatar

How good of a Dline coach you have has nothing to do with how much ridiculous money others schools are willing to spend on an unproven athlete. Today’s college football it doesn’t matter how good of a coach you are. Money will win everytime.
