Four-star defensive lineman JaReylan McCoy of the class of 2026 announced his commitment to LSU at the Under Armour All-American Game.

The 6’7, 245-pound lineman from Tupelo, Miss., chose the Tigers over Ole Miss, Tennessee, USC, Alabama, and others.

McCoy is rated the No. 12 defensive lineman in the country and the No. 6 player from Mississippi, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

He is LSU's 6th verbal commitment for the class of 2026.

2026 is light years away in the recruiting world. A commitment like that is barely worth a nickel.

They really need to stop using the word ‘committed’. It’s terribly misused these days. Should just call it ‘chooses’ or ‘currently selects’ Not knocking this kid and his decision- it’s great for him to choose LSU. But hopefully he truly is “committed”!

I hope the guy sticks, but when do we “respect” his decision?

He will decommit when Kelly wins 9 again next year. Best beleive it will be a hard decision after talking with God and his family.

Just a code word for “show me the money”, then I’ll commit and sign.

My idea of committed now is when they sign on the dotted line for LSU. Verbals don't mean much anymore.

And then transfers after one season

I don’t know why the frick we even post dumb shite like this, have these kids dcom once another school offers them money. The whole committing is such a farce.
