Because the Arkansas coach didn’t leave his team during a playoff run which that had a serious chance at winning, thus costing the league millions in revenue as well as lost notoriety of being champ. By league standards, the SEC is in a bit of a dry spell as fast as not having a national champion in football goes. It’s all about dollars, not sense.
