That won us multiple games in HS until the officials told us it would be called illegal procedure.

Except our version didn't fake a substitute, it had a player go talk to the coach and "get calls" which they them "disagreed with" and turned into a shouting match.

As long as they’re lined up appropriately (can’t see in video), it’s legit. The wide receiver doesn’t have to look or position any direction.

Why wouldn't this be considered illegal procedure? Illegal formation?

Chickenshit. They should be ashamed.

I saw Catholic High Pointe Coupee run a similar play against Southern Lab back in the early 80s. The play resulted in a TD.

What a pathetic display. "Oh look. We figured out how to cheat and get away with it" is basically what that play tells me.

Embarrassing for them. But that how most will get through life.

Local HS did this also in state semi. But it was on a KO (inside) and didn’t fake an injury/substitution. Player just hung out

I remember Acadiana doing that same play (although we didn’t fake an injury, subbed 1 player with 2 running off the field with 1 staying inbounds) to beat archbishop Shaw in 1999 36-35.

If I faced them again in the future, they wouldn't need to fake any injuries.

We call it "The wounded animal play", back in my leather helmet days. There's nothing new under the sun.

Wish he would have dropped it.

If there was a sub, wouldn't there be too many players on the field?? Doesn't the sub have to check in with the official?? Was the official checking to see if he was lined up correctly?? Should be a unsportsmanlike penalty in any event.

It is illegal participation: d. To use a player, replaced player or substitute in a substitution or pretended substitution to deceive opponents at or immediately before the snap or free kick.

They won this game 35-7, then lost in the state finals 27-24.

Howard Schnellenberger denounced the use of the play: "We had to come up with some good plays at the end there to win it, but we did force them to resort to the fricking fumblerooski. I told them before the game if those bastards have to run the fumblerooski, come to the sidelines and party because they have given up their right of manhood."

Legal, but pretty jacked to fake an injury to score.
