I could have a fantastic breakfast and lunch but if dinner sucks I'm going to complain.

On to Clemson

successful

We've won six SEC games. We're a long, long way from being successful.
Posters on here act like it's completely outside of the realm of possibility that he may have gotten lazy or at least complacent after last season.

This team is a disaster and it's on him.

Yea we definitely don’t want a guy who was recruited by two SEC schools

TJ Finley

there was like 6 teams in the entire country he competed with.

The SEC, in particular, wasn't nearly as competitive in baseball when Skip was at LSU...although he is largely responsible for creating SEC prominence and driving the arms race that ensued.
Strong arse offers being drafted for the best rec center players on campus...should hear something back soon

Not Giving Up on This Baseball Team

Still not?

whenever LSU loses a game

Is that what the OP is talking about? Talk about hyperbole!

This season has been a major disappointment - easily argued that it has been the most disappointing ever. Especially given preseason expectations for the big 3. If you dont care or aren't personally disappointed, fine. But it's been a shite show on the field/court.
You probably should give up. This team - especially pitching - is just bad.

I don’t understand...are you agreeing he's not elite but we couldn't afford an elite coach?
Questionable. Any evidence other than a homemade graphic?

Off the top of my head, LSU beat #1 Florida in 1997, Oklahoma in 2003, Ohio State in 2007

really really average

More like average average

I don’t give a shite about postseason record from a program that can’t ever make the tournament

consistently successful basketball coaches

This is the breakpoint for those of us who think Wade is overrated by so many of you. Of course his record is incredible compared to the dumpster fires before or after him. You guys keep making that point even though no one disagrees with it. We just have a different definition of success and it is centered on postseason results.
His sycophants on here are going to keep saying he's still young when that MFer is 60.

You're assessment of his accomplishments are accurate and fair. Good coach, good results, not elite, especially in the postseason.

Their best arguments against your points are "he's not as shitty as our other coaches" and "he made the tournament a lot". Loser mentality for sure.

He has been there one damn season, and instantly turned them around in that one season.

Look at what he did at McNeese, which is NEVER good in basketball.

NC State reached the Final Four two seasons ago.

McNeese made the tournament before Wade got there and made it again this year.
Because there's nothing to share regarding mens basketball
We don't celebrate losing in the playoffs.

re: Sunk cost and Matt McMahon….

It's not about sunk costs - it's that LSU athletics is currently facing a $25-$35 million deficit. That more than doubles if they fire McMahon and his staff and hire their replacements this year.

LSU bet on the near-term return of firing Kelly - which is a much easier bet/risk to defend given how much more revenue football generates than any other sport, plus the historical evidence of previous success/championships in football.

Making a similar bet with men's basketball just doesn't make financial sense. Doesn't mean they won't do it - and I hope they can find a way to make it happen. But it would be, by all accounts, a terrible business decision right now.
