much of our population is spoiled and/or work dysfunctional in many respects, and free as well to reject work given the social welfare benefits

I think this is another blight on our record that Trump will have to address - another planned degradation of the American Spirit engineered by the Democrat evil over the past half century for the specific purpose of destroying the America of our founding and replacing it with another communist-styled oligarchy.

The Democrat party of today is an evil influence working to destroy any semblance of a moral or responsible basis in our society.

stick their head in the sand

have you addressed their utilization of child labor and information control and religious intolerance ???

OR has having your head in the sand impeded your awareness of their atrocities?

Even Gainesville is sometimes a bus trip.

Glad you posted this

here I was sitting in my easy chair wondering why they would object to a 3 hr trip on a nice bus - then I saw this about Gainesville.

I suddenly realized that I am not actually AT LSU - I am sitting on my arse in Pearland TX a suburb of Houston.

Advice to you young'uns = don't get old.

I salute you sir - better man than I - although I don't recall when I first looked it up but it was in reaction to just the same sort of input as yours. :usa: :geauxtigers:

Interesting hypothesis.

have you found a logical fault wrt the theory>>>???????

because his tariffs are a complete disaster

Really???? - could you elaborate on this opinion? or are you just resorting to a oblique insult because you cannot verbalize anything more substantial.

Trump was left with a dumpster fire on his front yard - a dumpster than had been loaded with the shite of a real 4 year assault on logic, truth, morality, safety, prudence.

You expect him to get rid of all that crap and have a front lawn groomed to perfection in 3 months??

It took FOUR YEARS to accumulate all that garbage - and all the ancillary filthy infections that emanated from it - and now - POOF - it has to all be perfected??

This is like a victim of a hit-and-run being raced to the emergency room who wakes up life saving surgery cursing out the doctor and demanding to be able to set a pole-vaulting record.

seems more like an opportunity for all staff to kiss trump's arse

yep - this is a little off-putting for me as well.

BUT - he got where he is now and certainly NEVER pretended to be anything other than what he is right now - a true narcissist.

BUT - a narcissist who works for the benefit of the nation, while expecting to be rewarded with lavish praise along the way.

I will be vigilant for any instance when he allows his desire for praise override his obligation to the country.

I am nowhere near smart enough or experienced enough to render anything approaching final judgement on the situation. As of right now I will fall back on my life-long "go-to" decision process = "Which of these two actions is LEAST EVIL?"

As it stands right now, accepting this fault in his character is by any measure a lesser evil than having the alternative in his position.

Besides - if everything were perfect, we'd already be in Heaven - and would have already missed out on all the 'fun' her on this earth. We have to roll with the punches - we never get all we desire.
I genuinely LOVE this - it is a gut-punch to the MSM

I am hoping the "POTUS praise" cools off a little in the future - as of now I am giving them a pass because it is a way to strike back at the purposely ignorant and oppositional press. At least force those present to be aware of the genesis of this American renewal.

in a perfect world, a character like Trump would not be necessary, but in the absolutely near-fatal series of political turds that has put our nation in peril, I am not sure anyone OTHER than a fundamentally moral narcissist could have the wherewithal to rescue it.

SO - I am willing to accept a little acknowledgement of the critical nature of the man himself, without whom I believe the nation would have been doomed to Mao-like suppression.

But I hope it subsides - perhaps this can only occur if the MEDIA BEGIN TO DO ITS JOB!!!!!!

As long as the MEDIA acts as if they are the willing hatchet men for the DEGENERATE DEMOCRAT PARTY (as it is current led) then perhaps these types of in-your-face "progress reports" will be shoved down their throats and making them try to digest it.

And you make this case using a tweet from a Jew?

pretty sure he meant "judeo-christian" = which was the common understanding of the moral underpinning of our national foundation.

Our nation was founded on this ethic ---> Benjamin Franklin = "We have given you a constitution for the governance of a moral and religious nation - it can not govern any other."
quote:

It’s entirely possible that LBJ is the worst human being ever to be elected president.

His disastrous great society program ushered in the modern welfare state as well, crushing inner cities, destroying two parent families and sending us careening towards our current mess.

In my mind there is no alternative to that truth.

He qualifies on two major issues - the assassination of JFK

and

- the purposeful initiation of the Vietnam War, plus his meddling to then prevent its success.

a thoroughly despicable human being - on all levels - morals, integrity, citizenship, self-centeredness. nothing was beneath him.
quote:

Ho Chi Minh would have been a friend, not an enemy

/\ THIS /\ is one of the saddest facts of recent history.

Oh what might have been = If not for LBJ and his passion to be a 'wartime president' to assuage his blight of having OK'd the JFK assassination.
quote:

My Dad's family was from East Texas, and they all hated LBJ.

same here,
As a child I grew up listening to my grandfather (1864-1962) rail against LBJ - always referred to him as a murderer. And that memory stems from 1940 - 1955. I only saw him once since I left for college in '56 and that was so he could see my two children before he died in 1962 so I never heard him talk about LBJ wrt to JFK.

But I know what he would have thought about the assassination. I can still recall my second thought on that awful day - right after the shock of the announcement I thought 'LBJ did it.'

I have never wavered from that belief. Of course he didn't pull the trigger, but he damn sure was responsible for whatever setup enable the act.

May LBJ rest in hell.
I was born in the generation who bore the brunt of that horrible war, initiated by the most evil POTUS we've ever suffered thru and made worse by feckless leadership afterwards.

I was draft age - but escaped being called up by college, marriage, kids, and occupation.

Before I realized all the evil behind the initiation and conduct of this war, I always regretting not 'serving my country.' Many of my classmates did serve, but no casualties that I ever knew of from them.

I am still pissed at the loss of life, national treasure, and the upset of our national character caused by that purposeful, wholly preventable, disaster.

May LBJ rot in lower level of hell.
the tv cameras that will interlace those clips into otherwise 'news' programs.

but most of all - they will be used in their own campaign commercials to demonstrate what a 'great job' they did :yack:

The problem is that they don’t “fit together” in any meaningful, logical way. In fact, all of the arguments that the pro-tariff people make contradict themselves.

ok - anxiously read on to find your "meaningful, logical" basis for that critique.

found nothing but your 'opinion' --- and that is worth a cup full of warm spit.

pfffft  :yack: :spank:

you almost got a downvote just based on the title - luckily My eyes scanned down to your last two words -

but Not answering questions is Not transparency.

why would you be 'totally transparent" with the enemy?

He is doing them a favor by even appearing on their airtime - but to lay out an "totally transparent" answer to your avowed enemy would be worse than stupid - it would be suicidal.

There has never been a more honestly transparent POTUS - and he is being attacked by more malicious rancid hostility by the 'press' than any other POTUS in history. They life to make him fall into some word-trap for them to blast over the airwaves for the next week.

He should refuse to answer a single question from them - the fact that he is even civil to them is a testament to his basic integrity.

The charade of 'journalism' we've been hostage to over the past 3 decade has been insufferable - and for the past decade it has been absolutely felonious. 90% of all the 'newspeople' should be stripped of their 'journalist' appellation and treated as nothing but a propagandist.

Excellent people around Trump this term.

Absolutely - I love all these 'spokesmen' this time around == all excellent - all clearly top notch.

They wont like this because its criticizing Donald and his plan...

I like it because it represents the most thoughtful discussion of the tarriff situation I've seen on this board.
I am no economist and certainly have no direct experience with import/export scenarios - but everything I read in that post sounded perfectly logical to me.

Whether it is better than Trump's plan will never be known, but is certainly food for thought during the 'rethink' process.

I am going with the assumption that Trump gave the drastic tariff levels just to give an undeniable jolt to the whole economic system of the world - force everyone to start seriously thinking about how to 'tame the beast' - perhaps it will all gravitate to something akin to the OP layout.

So again - thanks to OP for the well thought-out scenario - :usa: :geauxtigers:
