Earlier this week, Uga X, the live mascot of the Georgia Bulldogs from November 2015 through the 2022 college football season, passed away at 10 years old. Bulldogs fans were obviously devastated by the news, but that didn't stop animal right's group PETA from taking advantage of the situation... (The Spun)

So a group for protecting animals talks shite about a breed of dogs, real nice group there.

It reminds of the people who want to be known for their commitment to the rights of minorities while also urging minorities to kill their offspring in utero. I think we call them Democrats.

Flat face breeds struggle to breathe. We're just so used to seeing them that way, it doesn't occur to us how much better they breathed before selective breeding chopped their nasal cavity length in half. And the fact that he breathe d like a normal bulldog does not mean that he was breathing like a normal dog, because it's anatomically impossible for them to do so. It's a nuanced conversation that is typically not well conveyed or received in the character limits of a tweet.

That is true. I bet we can now genetically re-engineer those dogs to look the same but have better airways.

Looks like they want to end the breed.

Kind of like planned parenthood wants to end humans.

You’re on track to being correct, except planned parenthood wanted to end a certain tinted group of humans.

So peta is criticizing a university for choosing a mascot which is a breed peta seems to prefer be euthanized instead? Honk honk.
user avatar

PETA is saying to stop purposely breeding these dogs bc they assume the dog’s life sucks. They are not suggesting to kill all the bulldogs.
user avatar
phunkatron16 months
PETA actually doesn't approve of animals being pets.

Take a wild guess what that means for fully-domesticated species like dogs?
user avatar
TFH16 months
Wild guess? They want people to stop breeding pets. They aren’t saying we should kill them.

PETA can pound sand as one day Mike the Tigah will again see 100,000 fans in Death Valley and His roar will again create fan hysteria.

If folks haven't caught on,PETA has to generate outrage/attention to stay relevant with this lunatics that keep them funded.

Not that kill shelters and a twitter account likely have much overhead.

I don't know a thing about this breathing issue but UGA never looked in distress to me (I live in Atlanta). I do know that UGA was probably the moved loved and well-taken-care-of dog on the planet.
user avatar
JackieTreehorn16 months
PETA can get fricked. UGA is treated better than most humans.
user avatar
cajunmud16 months
UGA's dog soul picked that particular breed just like we pick our particular meat suit that we incarnate into. It knew what it was getting into and wanted the learning experience, good & bad. We picked these lives knowing that it was gonna suck a lot but also knew it was gonna be a wild educational ride.

So all Bulldogs and Pugs should just be exterminated? His conditions weren’t because he was a mascot, it’s because the breed of dog he is has problems breathing
