After Nick Saban announced his retirement on Wednesday, ESPN reporter Chris Low discussed the aftermath of finding his successor on The Paul Finebaum Show...
quote:

"Nick Saban will do anything and everything he can to help them move forward," Low said. "In no way, shape, or form, though, is it in his DNA that he's going to try to force somebody on [Byrne] and tell him that this is who you should go hire.

"He will be a resource for him. You can bet your last dollar on that."

Dude left notes when he quit the LSU job and recommended Houston Nutt for the job. This won't go well.

You mean he won't recommend anyone to them like he recommended Houston Nutt to LSU?

Houston won alot of games at Arkansas and if you can win the West at Arkansas you are a pretty good coach. Nutt is a better football coach than Miles any day of the week in my opinion.

He recommended Nutt because he and Nutt both had Jimmy Sexton as an agent. No other reason than to throw Sexton a bone.

Here’s hoping this turns out like when the Giants allowed Eli Manning to help them finding his successor.

Saban said not long ago Jimbo was the best OC he ever had

And he may have been, he just isn't a great head coach.

Jimbo as an OC at LSU was arguably the best in CFB.

The game changed due to rules and his past talent as an OC ended up getting in the way of his HC career because he couldn’t adapt and refused to hand over playcalling duties.

24 years back when Jimbo was hired, offenses were vastly different. Jimbo's pro-style was balanced and he was as good as it got in developing Rohan, Mauck, JR and Flynn into winners.

Who would want follow behind Nick at Alabama? No one will look good or be as successful and will (sooner than later) get ax.

The best coaches are psychotically type A competitors and don't give a crap about that.

Nicky doesn't want anybody good to follow him. How about Curley Hallman?

Is it possible that Nick will recommend someone he believes is better than him? It is my understanding that laboratory cloning has not been perfected.
