Wtf? I have trophies from when I was a kid that still look the same as when I got them. How can they frick this up that bad?

They mixed the medals with pieces of the Eiffel Tower. I'm guessing the resulting alloy was not stable. So while a cool idea - to send athletes home with a piece of a French icon, maybe they should have checked to make sure the process worked. I'm curious if only the bronze medals have failed.
