In the same boat. This heat is evaporating my water like crazy along with the increase in algae. I did rig up a temp water line from my well to my pond to help with the evaporation which has been slow process for my 1 acre pond. In addition to that I typically use pond dye and barley extract which help with the algae control.
Personally have railroad ties sunk about half in the ground and/or raised to keep it all level. Its aesthetically appealing with my style of house/setting and weed eating is super easy.
