You don't penalize a QB because his defense is good or he gets short fields....or because he has a great WR.

The award under discussion is for the best quarterback in college football. Bennett is not even close to that...and everyone who is objectively assessing that knows it.

As for throwing the ball too much resulting in UGA missing out on recruiting top tailbacks: Other programs have been able to recruit NFL-caliber QBs and NFL-caliber RBs. I don't think it has to be one or the other. We haven't put a QB in the NFL (who actually stuck) since 2009...12 years and counting. That's the final piece in the drive to elite recruiting for Smart. Hopefully it ends when Bennett is gone; maybe Vandagriff or Stockton will be the real deal.

Over 1/2 of the winners of this award had little to no pro success, so that must mean they are judging the players based on their contributions to their College teams and not their Pro potential.

Yes. I agree. But none of the factors you mentioned is close to being the reason why.

True, but very few have had RBs like Gurley, Chubb, Michel etc. NFL caliber? Yes. As good as those three? No. And, we can win that way, too, as evidenced by this year.

I really don't care if we have an elite QB or not. We can win without one. As you pointed out, Bennett is not elite, but we could win big.....VERY big this year. Why does this bother you?

We've been told for years that Post-2011 Alabama/LSU was a new era for CFB with passing offenses reigning supreme and defenses being relegated to needing only a handful of stops and/or key TOs.

King Saban was even in on the trend with his transition towards modern offense, and away from his tried and true formula. And it has worked for him so far.

Kirby is a mad genius and knew that if he could get the players he wanted, that present day Fran Tarkenton could be starting at QB and we'd still have a strong chance at beating anyone in the nation.

Don't get me wrong, I always want to have 1st round talent at QB, but I see nothing wrong with how we're winning this year. Stetson is clearly the team's dude and until proven otherwise I'd be shocked if we didn't win the title with him.

List of things not dead in the South:
1. Crunk
2. And soul snatching SEC defense

Interesting fact is that total points for top ten and top 100 teams hasn’t actually changed much at all in the last 10 years.

The size and speed of players has changed.

Execution of the offense is what matters the most and you build around what you have.

We are the smart and cute girl that you should have chased not the hot and crazy girl you wanted.

not if he also had the same stat as Bennett of throwing about half as much as the others who are under consideration. Picket, Young, and Stroud have all thrown the ball 400-475 times for about 4000 yards.

It’s not Stets fault he’s been on the bench letting the back ups get reps by halftime for most of our games this season.

Not shocked that Lucius is trying to rain on the parade.

Bet he's a blast at parties.

I agree. You should always want to best...but we should also understand and accept that if you do not get the very best you can still win with what you have.

I like our team, honestly. It just feels....right. I know that is what you are saying, too, so I am not arguing with you. Just reiterating what you are saying.

5 stars get hurt, 4 stars wash out and transfer, Kirby still has a kid on the roster with a heart as big as his balls… who comes in and not only wins, but wins like a champion. Yet, there are still, sad, sad, sad little cünts who find a negative in it. On behalf of all the good and decent folks in the Dawg Nation. I say to you cünts…. frick you.

Most at least had a solid chance, and even if only half had success...well, NFL is a big jump in competition. I'm not sure Bennett will even warrant a look. Maybe he can slip into the 7th round or do a try out someplace.

Nonetheless, even if the players are being judged only by their contributions to their college teams, then it looks like the committee still got it right...Bennett is not in their list of finalists, for good reason. He is not the reason we're winning big this year. We just have to keep hoping he doesn't become a reason we lose.

Triggered yet again? You are spending way too much time on a football forum, telling others how or what to think. It's a bit sad.

I hope we continue to win...even if our current QB is not at the same level we target for talent at most other positions.

Currently the #6 offense in total points…one spot behind Bama.

This may be correct, but why are you so focused on his NFL prospects? I want to know what he can do for Georgia, and he has produced. He is a major reason we are where we are. I don't care if he gets drafted or ever takes a snap on the NFL level in a game or on a practice squad. I care what he does here. Period.

He is not the reason we're winning big this year.
Can you point to one player who is "the reason" we are where we are? No. That's because this is a team sport. If you have a QB or RB or WR that is the reason a team is doing well, you can shut them down. If you concentrate on shutting any one player on our team down, someone else will step up and hurt you.

We just have to keep hoping he doesn't become a reason we lose.

Personally I hope NOBODY can be pointed at as the reason we get beat.

Jordan Davis

We took him out against GT.
2 first downs on inside runs and we put him back out there.
You cant get 3rd and long without winning 1st and 2nd down.

But i agree with your premises. Stetson is a reason why we are #1. The mvp of the offense is Monken. But stetson is a huge piece of the 15 contributors on offense.

Jordan Davis, Ladd McConkey, Justin Shaffer, Latavious Brini, Ameer Speed and Dan Jackson were all 3* players (or less) that we typically target higher rated players...yet they have all way outperformed their ranking and they are at OLine, DB, WR, DLine.

Would you give any of those guys up? Jordan Davis was a low rated player and was not named to the PFF All-SEC team. It's a shame we have him on our team instead of a higher rated player like we target at other positions.
