I don't care how much help he had with short fields, the defense, etc. DGD.

JT is one of the better second string QBs in the nation.

I’ve been as hard on stet as anyone, residual pain from Fromm/Fields, but the kids a player. Stets got my full support, he’s #1. Let’s go take down Bama

Stet has stayed healthier than i expected.

I said since before UAB that a healthy stet could win us a natty.
But i always qualify that with "healthy" because his frame isnt built for taking shots.

He definitely is making plays with his legs better than i expected. Mini-mayfield.

He has done his job! Made his throws, not turning the ball over, a lot less line of scrimmage tipped balls. The real season starts Saturday against Bama! UGA has won these games in great fashion, he did not play well against UF, they got after him. He must be able to deal with the pressure Bama is gonna throw at him.

I foresee some max protect with built in run options to respond to how bama's d responds.

Hey, what happened to your thread on the R? I thought it was pretty decent the AU fans didn’t like it, but hey what do they know?

Nov. 23, 2021 – Pitt’s Kenny Pickett, Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud and Alabama’s Bryce Young have been selected as the three finalists for the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award.

Wait - Bennett has #2 QBR, highest percentage of passes resulting in TDs, and all the rest...but he isn't a finalist for best QB in the country? And he's not in the conversation for a Heisman or Maxwell award? How can this be?

Maybe it is short fields, the defense...and Brock Bowers??

If JT Daniels had the same numbers as Stetson Bennett right now, and was left off some award finalist list, you'd be screaming bloody murder.

When Coach Smart called all the Seniors up to get their pics with the Gov Cup trophy, ole Stet was right there.

Yes. I wonder how that works now that you could be a Redshirt JR, Senior, Super Senior, or Senior planning to come back?

Imagine how well he'd be rated if he weren't a no-talent walk-on who should never have seen the field at UGA!

Assuming you are being sarcastic?

You don't penalize a QB because his defense is good or he gets short fields....or because he has a great WR.

I would be willing to bet the other QBs have receivers with more yards/TDs than Bowers.

That said...they put a premium on yards thrown and we just don't throw the ball as much, which is fine. Bennett does what we need him to do. We don't need or want him to throw the ball 75% of the time. People forget that if we start throwing the ball around too much then we lose the top RBs. I can't imagine missing out on Gurley, Chubb, Michel, Zamir, Cook etc.

Yes, I know somebody will say you would give thta up for a title, but we are on the verge of a title now without throwing the ball that much, and many of those Heisman winners did not win a title.

Lets be grateful for what we have and stop wishing for what we don't have.

Two receivers with 1,000 yards both 70+ rec one with 6 and one with 12 TDs
A third receiver is close to 1,000 yards and has 13 TDs

Should those three QBs be eliminated because they have receivers with better stats?

Alabama's defense is pretty good, too, so that should eliminate Bryce Young, surely.

No. Bennett's "problem" is we don't throw the ball nearly as much, which, imo, is a good thing. It means we have big leads.

I'm not sure that I would...not if he also had the same stat as Bennett of throwing about half as much as the others who are under consideration. Picket, Young, and Stroud have all thrown the ball 400-475 times for about 4000 yards.

Others who were semi-finalists and close to making the finalist category were similar or more (Will Rodgers - 630 passes, 4449 yards). Bennet has only thrown 183 times for under 2000 yards.

Even Ridder at Cincinnati threw 338 for 3000 yards and Sam Howell at NC threw 327 for 2851.

Then there's the chuckle test... Kenny Pickett, Matt Corrall, Sam Howell, Desmond Ritter...these guys don't have anywhere near the talent of UGA surrounding them but they will be NFL draft picks. Stroud and Young are on teams with elite talent but will also be prospects in their own right.

Bennett? Ummm...no. I'm sure the committee has this factor somewhere in mind as well.
