You can't believe Fields is going to spend 4 years here, surely?

I think we really need to look at him being a waterboy. Our depth at that position is kind of thin.

With his shifty moves and fast 40 times we can make sure our guys are getting Hatorade, when they need it most.

Well people are expecting Fromm to stay for 4 years and as of now I think he’ll be a projected top 10 pick in 2020.

People said the same thing about DJ Shockley. He committed to UGA knowing we have an incumbent 5 star QB. This should be a fun competition to watch as it unfolds. I personally think Fields is too good to not see the field.

I expected Fromm to possibly be a four year guy, but if he continues his current trajectory, he could be gone in three. But there's no way Fields stays beyond three. You keep him on the bench for one of those three and you've essentially "Knowshoned" him (and the team, as whole).

I agree, which is why I believe we have to find ways to work him in and not sit on him.

It's unlikely, but I wouldn't say there's no way. Vince Young was at Texas for 4 years (granted, I think he needed to work on passing more than Fields). Tebow was at UF for 4 years. RG3 was at Baylor for 4 years. Marcus Mariota was at Oregon for 4 years. Cam was in college for 4 years (granted, not by choice )

Those are all top 3 picks outside of Tebow.

The fact is .... just like Eason last year... half of the GSB has anointed Fields as a 1st round pick after 3 years and he hasn’t taken a snap of college football. If he turns out as good as any of these guys above we’ll be very fortunate.

My hope is he’s able to redshirt and we have him for 4 years as this is best for GA football. We know Fromm is good and expect the same with Fields so my hope is we’ll get maximum playing time from both.

I believe Kirby should play Fields against the 1st team defense for spring practice. That will tell everyone whether Fields needs a Redshirt year or not.

Eason got a standing ovation going into the spring game. Our anointing of him before he even played a down was just absurd. Fromm didn't have that and I honestly think it's another reason he works so hard. Fields still has to play, and work his tail off, and stay healthy. As talented as I think he is, and as successful as I think he will be in Athens, none of that is a given.

I think that’s just because we’ve had such a thirst for some success that we’re always looking for “that guy” that will put us over the top. Personally I think Fromm is “that guy” and Fields may be too....so why not try to get the max out of both?

The good thing is that they’ll compete in the spring and we’ll see. But if Fields doesn’t start it makes no sense to me to have him burn a year of eligibility in garbage time or random drives that aren’t necessary to win a game.

We’ll see.

At that point our QBs were Grayson Lambert and Brice Ramsay.

Unless Fromm goes pro early, he could have to stay 4 years just to see starting time.

People that act like it's a forgone conclusion that Fields goes pro in three years need to pump the brakes.

The good news about Fromm is he has set and will continue to set the standard for our QB room. If Justin Fields or anybody wants to beat him out he will have to our prepare Fromm in the film room and playbook study. This should carry on for years.

This ended after Hutson Mason left because Grayson Lambert came in, I’m sure Grayson was a hard worker, and ended the standard set by Aaron Murray and then carried on but Hutson Mason. Truth be told, Fromm’s preparation could be better than Murray’s.

Predictive text failure but you are right. No school in the country is going to have a better QB room. Fromm and Fields will be fierce competitors to the benefit of both.

One play I would like to see with both Fromm and Fields is something similar to that option run/pass play that OU ran on us when Mayfield caught that TD pass but don't have the QB as a receiver. That play puts a lot of outside pressure on the defense. If the Secondary comes up to stop the run the QB can pass over them. If the pass isn't open then the QB likely picks up a nice gain running the ball. The main issue on this play is OL discipline to not get too far up field it it turns out to be a pass-play.

That is why it is a good goal line play. Defenders don't stay off the LOS and the blocking wouldn't need to chase down field.

A few other things that OU did well was having receivers block down field before the pass was in the air. Yes, it it illegal. But that may be one of the hardest calls for a ref to make. Lots of big play capability across the middle with fairly high percentage throws.

Quite literally impossible to predict with any degree of accuracy at this point. It's a total unknown as to how he will perform, whether or not he'll have trouble with injuries, etc.
