Agreed, and I like Coley as the 2 guy on an offensive staff.

He will retain OC title

Agreed. I’m ok with this.

playcalling/scheme responsibilities.

Not so sure on this.

going to be very disappointed.

Let’s see who he hires at QB Coach Co-OC first.

If Coley is the OC, the offense won’t be much better next year.

Next season will be Coley’s fifth as a college OC. He has fielded bad to terrible offenses in all of his attempts. He got substantially worse year over year at Miami.

He isn’t going to magically become a competent, much less good OC.

No. It isn’t. But it’s funny that you had to come downvote my post.
I downvoted and then responded. Not sure why it’s funny after you called me out specifically.

quote:

You absolutely backdoor downed George Pickens after people complimented Fromm on a throw in the game thread. That’s how insidious your Fromm defense is. Even when people compliment him with no qualifier, you have to down the receiver to defend him. It’s pretty fricked up, and I would absolutely bet everything I had on a clinical psychologist disagreeing with your self-analysis of rational proportionality.
When did I “backdoor down” Pickens after a good throw? Is it when I said that Pickens will be a force when he improves his route running? I was complimenting Pickens all night and the route running piece had nothing to do with that play. If you were referring to another play/comment, please quote it.

I’ve said it several times this season that the only reason for my seemingly over the top defense of Fromm is that there are several ignorant posters here who have pinned our offensive woes on him specifically while ignoring the more glaring issues, especially at WR. If they had a more rational take, I wouldn’t have been so adamant about defending Fromm, especially since he hasn’t been close to perfect this season.

I get it man. There has been some over the top Fromm bashing...some of us have just been calling a spade a spade. If the receiver runs a poor route or drops a pass, that’s on the receiver and we yell about the receiver. If Jake throws it 10 yards over the receivers head or 2 yards behind them, that’s on Jake. You just haven’t been willing to accept that ANYTHING was on Jake...even if you grudgingly have to admit it was a bad throw, you STILL put a qualifier on it. I think all any of us is asking for here is a little intellectual honesty in the fact that you are just going to defend Fromm no matter what and to have you stop trying to convince us all that your defense is 100% logical and reasonable. You are admitting your defense is a reactive response which by definition means that it’s emotionally motivated.

I downvote very rarely on anything that targets me specifically. It cries out insecurity and a support of cancel culture. Debate like a grownup without using the downvote to put your emotions on display for the whole board to see that you are triggered.

I’ve said before and fib said it earlier today, I like you as a poster...it’s just been a weird, surreal ride this season watching you bitterly defend poor QB play by Jake to the level of seeming like a battered wife.

Just my two-cents

Decision was made shortly after SEC championship on new guy. Coley will still be here and OC/TE coach.

The new guy will only be QB and passing game coordinator.

Seeking clarification on what that means for Hartley and Hankton.

You’re a reasonable poster.

No way CKS is going to shite talk one of his coordinators mid season or fire him after year one unless there was a major personnel issue. That’s bad management.

Now what he WILL do is bring in associates to fix weaknesses and try to push him to get his shite together. Let’s hope that happens.

For fans we want to fire everyone when shite doesn’t work. But in reality, these guys know and respect each other so they will get time to correct issues. We don’t know why was happening and how much was Coley vs just other random stuff.

He won’t air this shite publicly.

Wel’ll see.

Coley has high potential to be a Martinez like anchor around Kirby’s neck.

Our offense this year was one of the worst I’ve ever seen at UGA, but it was par for the course for Coley’s career.

Coley can recruit, but Keeping him on as a coordinator is ludicrous.

We are a competent offense away from a national title.

So Mark Richt is in Athens. Is that a coincidence? Not sure if he is an option with his health issues

I mean, you might be right, but you know that Steve Ensminger is still the OC at LSU, right? Brady is co-OC (I think) and passing game coach, and that is what made the difference.

I rarely make absolute comments because typically nobody knows what is actually going on behind the scenes.

Maybe, and i think that is the disconnect. Some throws are on Jake. Some throws that are flat out bad are because the receivers and Fromm have not been on the same page, the receiver ran a bad route, ot a receiver cannot get separation. (or he could have just been throwing the ball away because our receivers gave up on a route and just stopped to watch the play)

Fromm has had his share of troubles this year, but I have seen numerous criticisms of Fromm in which the blame was clearly the receivers.

Pickens has been one of the worst when it comes to route running, but it appeared in the bowl game he got one of my complaints right. On his TD catch he did not run for the sideline and hug it all the way down the field. He stayed a good 3-5 yards off the sideline and that allowed Fromm to lead him toward the sideline and away from the DB. Fromm dropped th ball perfectly to Pickens and Pickens made a great catch for the TD.

I think (guessing) some of Foo's furustration (and mine) stems from some of the harshest criticisms of Fromm have not been on plays in which it was his fault.

All of that said, Fromm has made his share of mistakes, too. He has not been as accurate on some of his throws.

I like this board and most of the posters on this board, but I do miss just watching a game for enjoyment and not picking apart our players and coaches after every loss or close game.

I have criticized the WRs for not running good routes all season, as well as Fromm for bad throws. But the route running in the Sugar Bowl was very good. Crisp turns to create space, and Simmons and Pickens had some good comebacks (what we called button-hooks in the old days) for completions. I give them (and Fromm) a B+ for the game. Had Robertson held on to that end zone pass it would be A-.

Chances are foo is gonna blame the wr even when it’s on Fromm.

Pretty impressive since he’s coaching the Seahawks offense in Philly as we speak.
