Wait…we have a Dirty Daniel Jackson on the Baseball team?

That reminds me of living in the DC area years ago. There was a graffiti artist who would tag everything “Disco Dan” and, probably the same guy, evolved into “Cool” Disco Dan.

It was always fun to think there were rival taggers fighting over the Disco Dan monicker while I rode the Metro.

I get what you are saying. I am just tired of the narrative that Spiff keeps spewing about fingertips count as drops as a way of condemnation of Beck.

He’s trying to say that the total number of drops includes fingertips and “throws behind the receivers” and THAT total is only 38.

The reality is that if we were to include every ball that hit a receivers hand, we are talking about closer to 70-80 drops rather than the official number 38.

I looked up what is considered a drop for charting drops as a stat.

That is what the NFL considers a chartable drop for star keeping.

If the NCAA has more stringent rules for charting drops than the NFL, so be it…but I doubt that is the case.

If we are to count every ball that hit someone’s hand and was not caught, I suspect the number of drops by UGA pass-catchers this season would be well-north of the 38 official drops.

Fingertips do not count as drops.

This standard says drops are "incomplete passes where the receiver SHOULD have caught the pass with ORDINARY effort."

Basically, we're talking about blatant drops, not the ones where your old man leans over and says anything that grazed the receiver anywhere was a drop in his day.

"Only use this if the receiver is 100 percent at fault and no one else can be blamed for the incompletion," ESPN tells its game charters. "Pass interference that wasn't called/passes thrown just outside the receiver's reach, etc., are NOT drops."

Maybe…I think human nature is to continue to push for more and more on the basis of equity until the golden goose lays no more and the pyramid is upside down. The road to Hell is paved with good intentions.

It may have stopped where you think it would have, but I suspect it would still have continued on the path it’s on now. It just would have been a slower process.

I’m sure Kirby is going to hate it but, the days of building the relationship with players from PeeWee league all the way through high school as a recruiting device are gone.

He will need to adjust to expending the majority of his time and resources to constantly evaluating every player currently on the roster at each position for ROI vs players of the same position available in the portal. Cut loose the underperforming players and get their higher performing replacement from the portal.

No one is going to have a “culture” anymore. It’s just going to be about how well you adapt to bringing in equal or better talent due to turnover.

I blame Ed O’ Bannon for the entire thing.
Depends on what Nitro and Sacovie look like when they have more opportunities. Other than than that, probably not. At least not until we see what our incoming Fr. Look like.

I could be wrong but, completely aside from possibly being outbid for WR, it is entirely possible that all these guys are being negatively recruited on the basis of offensive dysfunction at UGA and “who is the QB?”. “Georgia doesn’t sling it around enough to give you sexy stats for the draft”

Valid or not, these are pretty easy tools to use on WR, who are generally one of the dumber position groups with the most diva personalities. They want to have guarantees of 15 balls a game thrown their way so, even if they only catch 9…they have gaudy numbers.
If we were CEO and could only replace one coach, for me it would be Searels. Coley would be a relatively close second, but Searels has got to go. 2nd time around, same year over year regression.
What if I were to say that the problem all season, aside from dropped passes was that the O-line receives coaching that is well below par as compared to the past?

This may end up worse if Oregon can’t stop the bleeding.

As has been pretty well documented on this board, I was never impressed with Brock and had a couple of e-tussles over it. I think the step up in competition from High School to college was beyond his capacity to grow and develop adequately.

Really seems like a good kid and I hope he has a successful life regardless what he chooses to do. I have a lot of respect for him being able to make this momentous decision at such an early age. It shows maturity.

I think this was M’Pembas second year on campus.

Edit to add, he got passed up by multiple folks.

I think he was a TE or something until his Junior year in HS. Just may need more time to develop at LB, like Tae Crowder.

Beck has been an utter frickhead to the team on quite a few occasions this year.

What are you basing this assertion on?

FYI- it was not me who downvoted your post.

It was more the karmic implications of the situation. A lot of the posters probably deserve that outcome based on their dumping on Carson.

Of course I always want Georgia to win. I have hated Dan Marino since I was 10 because of the 1982 Sugar bowl. I have always hated Penn State because of the 1983 Sugar Bowl. I have always hated Auburn for simply existing.

My Dawg allegiance is absolute. That does not stop me from being objective about poor behavior, regardless of whether the behavior comes from my tribe or someone else’s.

My post was simply to illustrate that there is very good chance that the righteous outcome of the situation would be for some of the folks on this board to be faced with the reality of losing a championship to the player they shite on incessantly, pre and post injury.

It was a cosmic justice sentiment not something I actually want to have happen.

I’m not an alter. I’ve been here since before the migration of 2012.

I’m not saying it WOULD be worth it. I said it would ALMOST be worth it because of what total and utter frickheads most of this board has been towards the kid this year.

I’ll hate that. Kid has gotten shite on a lot this year though. Even post-injury a lot of the folks on this board have continued to dump on the kid. It would almost be worth seeing UGA lose for him to go somewhere else and beat Georgia for the title next year.
