Sure did hate to see that roughing the passer penalty in final drive when they lost to Utah.

Didn't he say USC's defense was just as good as GA's ?

Yeah, the kid made a mistake, and it's pretty obvious. Dawgs could certainly use him, and he'd likely look like a future top 10 pick if he were still playing for Kirby.

However, I just don't understand celebrating his failure.
I root for the best program in the country. Why would a 20 year old's football setbacks do anything at all for me?

Truth is he's still a good player. He's the best defender on that team, but they don't provide either the support or the development to maximize his talent.

Hopefully it works out in the long-run, but this has likely cost him millions.

Because this wasn't a situation like AD Mitchell who put in his time here but left to go back closer to home and family. This was a "business decision" by someone who chased dollar signs and nothing more. Bear went to the highest bidder and doesn't give the slightest shite about football or working. He could have stayed here, WORKED HARD, made a name for himself, and gone in the 1st round. Instead he pimped himself out for short term financial gain, is floundering on a shite defense that won't win anything, and will get drafted lower and flame out due to lack of work ethic.

Would you change jobs for triple money? Would you have had the foresight at 19 to make the smart, mature, long term career decision?

Financial decisions made by 19 year-olds are more on the adults around them, IMO. He has no clue what the hell he's doing.

he's an amateur student athlete. He's not an employee and this isn't a job.
And if I were to leave my job abruptly when my company was counting on me and left them in a bind, to go to a shittier company to do a worse job, would you not think my former company would probably be a bit irked at me?

Yes, I would.

No disagreements there.

Absolutely.

At UGA, he gets triple the money in the NFL draft.

Whats the bigger number? NIL? Or Draft Money?

I know that Lincoln Riley has a reputation as being a defensive expert. The list of DL who have gone on to the NFL is impressive.
If there was one defensive minded coach who could give pause to staying at UGA, that coach is Lincoln Riley.
But somehow, someway that NFL money is bigger after UGA.

I think the way he did it and the things he said are why people are not wishing him the best like some others who have moved on.

I think one of the biggest things that has frustrated people with Bear were his mentor’s comments after Bear left and slamming UGA/Kirby on the way out.

Exactly my point. Do you think the folks around him aren't happy with the extra money *they're* getting?

This kid just left the best career prep anywhere and fricked himself out of a lot of money. A wise and trustworthy person in his corner may have prevented that.

All that said, I don't feel sorry for him. He'll probably be just fine. His failures, however, will never make me happy.

Which takes us back to his comments as soon as he joined the team in LA. He said that he would rather stand out instead of fit in, meaning everybody knew he was the best player on that side of the ball. Compare that to Athens, where he was part of a well-oiled machine.
