re: This Myles Garrett thing has really brought out the rant’s virulently racist contingent

I feel bad for Myles, good kid, dumb decision but today’s justice warriors are unfairly crucifying him and that makes me angry

I’m a fan of the kid and I’m pissed

That’s my right

Absolutely your right. I don’t know him so I can’t pass judgement on his character.

Oh, bite my big old butt. Crucifying him? Really? And what is unfair about how he has been treated?

If you want to be pissed at someone (personally I don't; it's a done deal) be pissed off at Myles Garrett.

even if Rudolph called him everything racist in the book, I don't see how that gives MG the right to do something that could have killed Rudolph. MG was dead wrong. Maybe Rudolph was too. But waiting to mention something so serious to another's livelyhood until you go to the principals office for punishment doesn't seem to bright to me. Should have said it right away or not at all.

This. 100%

Agreed.

I've been called the N word to my face before. Know what I did? Laughed in the fricker's face. Pissed him off even more. Tired of ONE friggin' word being imbued with such societal power that it somehow mitigates physical assault in the minds of some. Is it wrong to use? Yeah. Is it acceptable in polite company? No. Is it excusable for violence? Also no. And too many times I've seen folks use it as a pass for such behavior. Which only exacerbates the problem IMO.

Remember he also kicked Garrett in his balls and tried to rip is head off

Cmon buddy, you not I would have turned the other cheek at that point

I’m not excusing the helmet to the head hit but Myles is getting a raw deal from the media

Granted.

I wouldn't have swung a damn helmet, either. I know how to keep my head when all about me are losing theirs and blaming it on me. I'm not saying Garrett wasn't provoked, but he made a terrible choice in dealing with said provocation.

Eh, idk about that. The optics of his actions were the worst of the fracas, so of course he'll receive the brunt of the criticism.

Let me be outraged

On another note, me and mine may permanently be relocating to the Spur family locale this summer

No, I just tend to forget how different race relations can be in most of Texas vs rural LA, MS, GA and AL.

I currently live in central Louisiana and can confirm this as true.

Who cares what he did or didn’t call him. Makes no difference whatsoever. Not to mention the obvious fact that most of masons coworkers are black and he’d have to face them every day so I highly doubt he said something racist.

I really don't think that would matter in the heat of the moment.

But it sure seems like you’re trying to mitigate it. The helmet to the un-helmeted head is the issue.

Riley Cooper comes to mind.

And I still don't understand what the entire outrage is about. Someone got violent while playing a violent sport???

Say it ain't so!

Suspend both of them and get over it...or better yet, do what hockey does; let them fight.

let's just say he called him a ni***r and his mom a hamster and his dad smelled of elderberries, makes not one iota of difference. there is no justification for what he did.

You left out Mason trying to tear Myles helmet off, then kicking him in the junk, and while Mason’s OL was holding onto Myles and pushing him away, Mason decided to charge at and hit Myles again.

Myles is on roids. He doesn't (didnt) strike me as the type that would get angry at an n-bomb.

How many fricking lines of poetry has he written and read on tv.

He has no one to blame but himself for this mess.
